ipv6 cgnat is evil

qaz OP ,

I meant “ISP’s use CGNAT over IPv6” as ISP’s use CGNAT instead of IPv6 to solve IPv4 address limit issues, not as using IPv6 through CGNAT, although some do use IPv6 through CGNAT for backwards compatibility with IPv4 only devices.

umbrella ,
@umbrella@lemmy.ml avatar

oh i get what you mean. i can understand using ipv4 cgnat to solve these issues.

mine thankfully uses it by default but allows advanced users to switch to a normal ip if they want to.

If it makes tracking hard to impossible then its BASED The end to end principle died in 1994, I’m sad too that we can’t all be one happy family, but let it go.

smileyhead ,

But it does not make tracking impossible and only a little harder. From privacy standpoint it’s like using manditory VPN hosted by your carrier. And as we know, you must trust your VPN provider to not log.

And is it worth it? I would much more prefer to have real IP address and be able to host things in my house, including a full speed I2P node that would really make “tracing impossible”. Someone needs to host such nodes.

My new therapist’s office sets a recurring bi-weekly appointment for their patients, which I find fantastic, and it’s been a great start, but it’s still relatively new and we’re getting familiarized enough to work out a specific treatment plan, so every two weeks, she’ll open with a genuine: “How are you?” and it’s a toss-up in my head between: “Are you sure you wanna know? Or should we get shit done…

PeteBauxigeg ,

I have never know if it’s a ‘therapist’ "how are you? " or a ‘this is how two humans begin conversations’ “how are you?”

theneverfox ,
@theneverfox@pawb.social avatar

It’s both. It’s an invitation to bring up anything recent, but you can also treat it like a normal greeting if you’d rather not go there right now.

It’s also open ended enough that you can say “I’m doing well, I’ve been thinking about my childhood a lot lately” and take the session wherever you want organically. It could also just lead into small talk while you get comfortable

PeteBauxigeg ,

This is actually helpful

theneverfox ,
@theneverfox@pawb.social avatar

Glad to hear it…I also found it helpful to know about the “pregnant pause”. It’s when they just look at you silently, waiting for you to continue. It makes you want to keep talking out of awkwardness

It helps me to think of that like an invitation, I’ll think if anything else comes to mind and if I’ve got nothing left to say I’ll just wait it out

funkless_eck ,

mine keeps mentioning eventually we’ll transition from weekly to bi-weekly. I guess I must be too fucked in the head for it to happen yet though

I vote for not giving corporations shit for one of the few positive things they do. Honestly, I worry that this backlash against corporations supporting LGBTQ+ people is actually often being pushed by homophobes.

Maybe it’s shallow and maybe it’s not very long lasting, but at least it’s public and positive.

bountygiver ,

ya as much as it’s just virtue signalling, it’s still showing that LGBTQ+ people are being supported by majority, there will indeed be something to worry about if they stopped suddenly.

DontRedditMyLemmy , in Maybe we can get good IPv6 support now

Now the ISPs can charge us if we want a public IP, so really this is a win for big ISP… not sure why you guys aren’t appreciating that! /s

This is the kind of progress that can only happen once a game has been in the hands of a multi trillion dollar company for a decade.
