I never really got this. Sure, we ALL want world peace, but what are you expecting to happen?

Hamas is attacking Israel, so I understand Israel wanting to protect themselves, and take out terrorists, but blowing up random Palestinians is NOT the way to do it.

The only way a third party can end someone else’s war is by obliterating one of the sides.

However, an American leader CAN directly shape American policies, so I’m going to support the Dems to avoid cataclysmic damage to our country, rather than shit on them for not solving someone else’s problems.

Rhynoplaz ,

I don’t understand what you’re trying to say with this response. I agree with the reversal completely. I’m willing to listen, because I am sympathetic to all the very real destruction happening over there, but can you explain how shitting on Harris benefits Palestine at all?

Linkerbaan OP ,
@Linkerbaan@lemmy.world avatar

Very simple. Enough people withhold their votes and the Democrats will be forced into a ceasefire

Do you think Joe Biden retired for funsies? They looked at the polling and dumped him. And as I was right about before, while everyone told me otherwise, nobody likes Biden anyway.

Rhynoplaz ,

You say they’ll be forced into a cease fire. Do you think that’s something they can just flip a switch and make it so? That’s an ongoing war on the other side of the planet involving at least three groups of people. In the meantime, you withhold your vote and Trump becomes president again. Now what?

We gotta get Harris there before we start asking her for favors.

Yes quite literally in one phone call. Do you not think israel is fully dependent on the US?

We gotta get Harris there before we start asking her for favors.

Why do you think the Palestinians should suffer from three more months of Genocide? The Democrats are in power right now.

Harris has already stated she will keep shipping weapons to israel this week.

NEVER run a command you don’t know the purpose of. That being said, “sfc” stands for “System File Checker.” It is a utility that can help restore corrupted windows files. sfc /scannow checks your protected files and restores corrupted files from a local cache. The process can take some time and you MUST let it finish it’s entirely.

In conclusion, this command is generally safe to run.

Ephera ,

Does it also remove the French language pack?

unmagical ,

No idea.

lol. Someone never followed along in a linux tutorial. /j

unmagical ,

Well, I try to understand why something is included. I’ve run arch for years (BTW), though my current computers are running Fedora and Debian. I won’t say I know everything about Linux or even installing it or booting it, but I do know more than I would if I just followed step by step.

I think I get it, so social science is like theoretical physics?

happybadger ,
@happybadger@hexbear.net avatar

In Marxism, the base (material/economic conditions) is what the superstructure (social/cultural/political conditions) is generated by. Societies organise themselves around the resources available and the division of labour required to utilise them. Marxism’s social observations are all rooted in that mediation of the material environment.

AntiOutsideAktion ,
@AntiOutsideAktion@lemmy.ml avatar

Just to add onto this for completeness’s sake: the superstructure is created by the base and also the remaining superstructure left over from the previous base. And don’t forget the dialectic between base and superstructure!

Also add DISM to that - if it’s corrupted it could cause you to be unable to install windows updates.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

It’s also possible that fixing it may require the original windows installation media matching your windows version build number - which means if you’ve since installed a major windows update there may not be an available installation iso that meets the requirement. Happened to me and I was lucky enough to coax an iso out of the windows installer download page that satisfied the repair tool (oddly enough downloading an iso using the Windows Media creation tool didn’t work, but spoofing Linux on the page to directly download an iso gave me a different iso that worked)

These are the things I do to maintain my last windows machine.

kubica ,

Windows Media creation tool didn't work, but spoofing Linux on the page to directly download an iso gave me a different iso that worked

Sometimes I hate when I fix something in a way that I'm not supposed to. Like "If I didn't know about this thing that I don't have any particular reason to know, I'd be fucked."

zaph ,

You can also extract the media creation tool for the iso

BakedCatboy ,

The creation tool also just lets you save the iso - but for some reason the media creation tool gives you a different iso than if you spoofed a non-windows user agent on the windows download website so that it gives you a direct link to the iso instead of getting you to install the creation tool. And for some reason only one of them worked with DISM to repair my system in order to be able to run windows update successfully.

It doesn’t even need to be overnight! I’m currently sitting in a recliner in an infusion/cancer center because I am on a medication that’s given through IV every month. My insurance is going to pay a 5 figure sum for me to chill in this chair for about 90 minutes.

I’m a software engineer and the actual dollars paid monthly/yearly (not the fake high “retail” cost) are something like 2x my gross income.

If you want to fix this, your path is easy:

  • Vote Democratic in the general election because there’s never going to be a anti-genocide Republican. Ever.
  • Take a page out of the Republican playbook and campaign against AIPAC-backed Democratic candidates in primaries.

Complaining about candidates in the general election is too late and actually depresses Democratic turnout. You need to dot he hard work of signing up registered voters and getting good candidates at every level.

Democratic voters have a big problem with not showing up in off-cycle and local elections, and that abdication of responsibility is largely why the corporate wing of the party has the influence that it does. Republican voters show up to every single election, even the primary for town dog catcher.

  1. Why do you think there will be anti-genocide democrats? There don’t seem to be any that approach any position of power. Why do you think genocide is supported in the first place?
  2. Why do you think “vote harder” is the answer? What financial interests would support anti-genocide? Why does AIPAC exist and why does it have power?

Complaining about candidates in the general election is too late and actually depresses Democratic turnout. You need to dot he hard work of signing up registered voters and getting good candidates at every level.

Complaints come from the very real fact that the Democrats are actively supporting genocide. The blame for depressed turnout is not on the people unhappy with genocide, but on the ones supporting genocide. Voting for genocide even harder isn’t going to work against genocide.

Democratic voters have a big problem with not showing up in off-cycle and local elections, and that abdication of responsibility is largely why the corporate wing of the party has the influence that it does. Republican voters show up to every single election, even the primary for town dog catcher.

Wrong order of operations. The corporate wing has the most power because they are the reason the Democrats have any power, by sucking up to their donors. The progressives are kept on a leash and allowed to bark so that the working class thinks they have a real voice, despite the reality that Capitalists will remain in control. This drives away voters, yes, but keeps funding up.

Aren’t you supposed to use a different distro every 3-4 weeks? No worry of maintaining at that point, problem solved.
