I think it’s the ratio of easiness and endurablility if these are words. There are much easier songs that get annoying very fast. I don’t dislike Lady in Black but I think I would if I knew someone who learned guitar with it. Wonder Wall is more difficult but still easy to play and also remember the lyrics and sing along without being too repetitive and monotonous.
I don’t think anyone obcess over their musical skills, because they’re quite mediocre, but rather because they managed to pull a 10/10 album despite of being ordinary blokes with guitars.
Their second album “(what’s the story) morning glory?” is a true masterpiece and should be on a top 100 of all albums of all times.
It was refreshingly unpretentious at the time. Ironically the success turned them into pretentious idiots who never managed to follow up.
I wonder how they even got into music to begin with, because it seems like a bunch of hooligans just went into a music studio and got it right on the first take.
I live in a national park and the Govt just awarded a contract to a private company to build a fiber line to the villages for high speed internet, and the company building the thing will own the network while the govt is stuck paying the bill forever. So stupid imho. No private company should own a network that exists entirely on federal land, and everyone depends on .
God damn that sounds awesome. But yeah, the private fiber line sucks. Same happening in my country with most “last mile” connections belonging to exactly one private company. Whereas our neighbours to the south (Latvia) nationalized the entire network and everyone benefits from having competition (same company, Telia, has their prices like 80% lower there than here - claiming that Estonians don’t care about price)
My oldest Thinkpad I still own is an X60, and other than the hardware problems, the plastic on the thing is becoming so old it’s brittle and breaks every time you try to take the thing apart. I love it and my T60p dearly, but they’re past their final days.
If you know anything about Lenovo you would know that if ARM laptops started to have high market share they would have like 35 mediocre models on offer in a year.
Some of the think pad lines are still good but their consumer offerings and a couple of the think pad lines are trash.

My work laptop is a Dell Precision. It was a “data science” model that came with Ubuntu. Wiped Dell’s modified Ubuntu and put vanilla Ubuntu on it and now running Nixos. Works great. There was a weird period when using triple monitors with their dock had an intermittent issue on boot where resolutions and monitors were not being detected. Cause was Nvidia drivers. It eventually got resolved and it was easy enough to rollback the drivers to one that worked.
