I miss Outlook. All the google suites are just a bastardised version of a better program. Especially Google sheets, I shouldn’t need to Google search to do basic things
The effects of late stage capitalism on software: it’s expensive and terrible. If those billions were invested purely in quality rather than bloat we could have… Well, who knows. Better spreadsheets I guess.
I learned last week that you can set up Thunderbird with Gmail and run it almost exactly like outlook, with rules and folders and all. Cut down about 3000+ emails I’d been too lazy to delete or sort on my own to zero with a few rules and folders. 10/10, highly recommend.
Floridian here - why is there no general solution for keeping interior temperature close to exterior temperature? It’s dissipating a potential difference. No added energy is required.
I’m not expecting the car to be frosty after six hours of subtropical sunlight, but could it please be closer to when I leave a window cracked? Ideally without having to worry about draining the footwell if it pours for five minutes?
Using a solar panel to run the ventilation system seems like a good solution. This was an option on the Prius, so I’m not sure why it’s not more common. Maybe Toyota has patents that haven’t expired yet?
This is actually often done when trying to be more eloquent or dramatic or add importance, like how Independence day is The 4th of July versus just saying Jily 4th.

I honestly feel like this is such a dumb argument to have because it doesn’t matter except for communication with people who use other methods. Now metric vs imperial makes way more sense to me because the metric system is just so much easier for mathematical conversions.

An amount of hydrogen weighing the same amount has exactly one mole of atoms in it. Whereas in the American system, the answer to ‘How much energy does it take to boil a room-temperature gallon of water?’ is ‘Go fuck yourself,’ because you can’t directly relate any of those quantities.

Seconds are part of the metric system and are the base unit of time. Just because they didn’t define it initially doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist or makes sense. They use milliseconds and kiloseconds; minutes and hours are used for convenience but are not part of the SI
Just don’t care and use them. People understand them. Maybe they’re not used to hearing it, but it doesn’t matter. This is what I do and never cam across someone who was so dense that he didn’t understand me. I also never had someone tell me that it was strange to do so.
