joseandres42 , in Does anybody else have an issue with the 8bitdo controllers? I need help.

Try to mark the devices as trusted in blueman and see if it helps.

Already did that to no avail. It seems like no matter what I do, this is what I’m doomed to. I’ll have to check out the BIOS/firmware for the controllers like the other person suggested.

Molecular0079 , in Can't connect PS5 Dual Sense via Bluetooth - Fedora 38 KDE

Are you trying to pair the controller while you have a pair of Bluetooth headphones already actively connected? The reason why I ask is because I’ve ran into issues with the AX200 when attempting to use both at the same time. Either the Dualsense would stop working or it would kick my headphones into the lower bandwidth HSP mode. I ended up having to use a separate USB bluetooth dongle just to get the two to play together nicely.

WereCat OP ,

No. Nothing else was connected to BT. I just checked if it works with headphones after to make sure the BT is actually working.

just_another_person , in Can't connect PS5 Dual Sense via Bluetooth - Fedora 38 KDE

I’m going to say this again, as I have for so many other people having issues with F38:

FEDORA 38 IS TERRIBLE FOR GAMING

Switch to a different distro that is much better suited for gaming. Ubuntu, Mint, PopOS, SteamOS, Manjaro…just not F38. There are so many complaints, it’s time to just ditch it.

Dremor ,

As a Fedora 38 user, I have no problem gaming on it. What problems are you talking about?

WereCat OP ,

This is literally the only issue I have. All games run fine for me without issues. I only borrowed the controller to try it so that I know if I should buy it or not. So far I don’t really like it much over my Steam Controller. I just wanted to play over Bluetooth and it does not work, cable works fine but it’s just too short so I have to sit next to my case and look at a monitor from an angle. It’s not a BT issue as well since othr BT devices like my SONY WH-1000XM3 headphones work just fine.

For what it’s worth, same issue happens to me on Kinoite as well. On an AMD board. With AMD 6E/Bluetooth.

My wi-fi works fine and my Bluetooth works fine for audio/headphones so I hadn’t realized it was an issue until I got a new dualsense on sale a few weeks back and have been playing corded this entire time 😅

WereCat OP ,

I’m also on AM4 platform

Digging New World and Albion Online at the moment. All those others are great, too. ESO can get tricky to install addons is my only comment there.

Dota 2?

New World plays alright, in the bit I’ve played since switching. Generally a good game too ☺️

Add PROTON_DUMP_DEBUG_COMMANDS=1 %command% to the Launch Options in the Properties menu of the game. Launch the game once and then check in /tmp/proton_(your username). There should be bash scripts for running the game in there. Close the game in Steam and launch the game using the ./run command and see what errors come up.

krey , in Has anyone gotten Sniper Elite 4 running on OpenSUSE?

you can no longer switch to a vt?

have you tried switching to a vt preemptively while launching it (e.g. use the sleep command to delay start or use chvt in the same input line)?

check the syslog, if any.

idk if it’s still a thing, but the kernel had magic sysrq key combos that would still work when a lot of stuff crashed.

maybe try logging the game stderr and stdout to a file. maybe even with additional strace.

I’ve been dying for a steam release of Wipeout HD. Thankful for this as it will tide me over.

phx , in Steam disk write error on Debian 12

I’d check that there isn’t actually an issue with the drive itself. If the whole device is being set to RO that might be due to filesystem issues as the default OS action is often to remount RO to avoid corruption

krey , in Steam disk write error on Debian 12

if it’s a dedicated FS, can you maybe force the permissions with mount options, ACL or directory setgid?

Did it have issues before? I used it on my SD a long time ago and it seemed fine

Hate to jump in 4-5 days after you posting, but what are your Steam launch options?

I see on ProtonDB a lot of people are having to fidget with some Vulkan settings, and I myself can’t even get the game to launch as I get the “Graphics card does not meet minimum requirement” message when I have a RX 6700XT. Granted I’m not running the game through Steam and I’m trying to play via Lutris with wine-ge. If you’re wondering how I’m “not running the game through Steam”, let’s just say the waves were rough last night and creating a lot of torrents.

One thing I tried was editing the current build of Windows to be 11 and not 10, but that doesn’t seem to work. Looking at the ProtonDB page, there’s these following environment variables people here can try adding to their launch options (though don’t add all of them):

<span style="color:#323232;">ENABLE_VKBASALT=1
</span><span style="color:#323232;">AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV
</span><span style="color:#323232;">PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NAVPI=1 # note the user who supplied this said they had to downgrade their NVIDIA drivers to 525.x
</span><span style="color:#323232;">VKD3D_CONFIG=force_compute_root_parameters_push_ubo # the user who supplied this said nothing worked for them
</span><span style="color:#323232;">DISABLE_LAYER_AMD_SWITCHABLE_GRAPHICS_1=1 VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.i686.json:/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.x86_64.json # if you have an AMD GPU
</span><span style="color:#323232;">DXVK_CONFIG_PATH=/home/niko/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Starfield/dxvk.conf
</span>

EDIT: It seems like the following options get rid of the “minimum requirements” message, however now I get “your graphics drivers are out of date.”

<span style="color:#323232;"># Launch options if you're running the game in Steam
</span><span style="color:#323232;">DXVK_ASYNC=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=1 AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.x86_64.json gamemoderun %command% --skip-launcher
</span>

This is with wine-ge-proton8-14, don’t know if GE-Proton8-14 would make a difference.

bitwolf OP , (edited )

Hey, I didn’t have to do anything special.

I installed the game and launched it, it defaulted to Proton Experimental for this which got an update the same day.

Which OS are you on? Fedora tends to get mesa updates very quickly so your issues may be resolved in a newer mesa version.

Does steam add any flags by default? If you know how to get them I can share those.

AlecStewart1st ,

I’m on Gentoo and I built a new version of Mesa just yesterday.

I’m not running the game in Steam, I’m trying to run it from Lutris with wine-ge, as I did not get the game via Steam.
