Good thing I have no interest in playing online with randos (or with anyone else at all, really) or paying through the nose for AAA games full of bugs, then!

GameMuse , in Gaming on Linux is great!

Yeah Windows has been giving me the shits of years finally moves to linux a few months ago and only one issue I have for gaming is when I am playing balders gate 3 and a switch to another app while it’s running it crashes the game but yeah blown away how great it has been

“What, you don’t like retro yet proper gaming on a 1W device?”

dillekant , in Counter strike 2 issues

I remember the frame time issue happening but it fixed itself and I can’t remember the cause. Try changing the refresh rate of your monitor, it might kick something which fixes it.

Performance should definitely be mostly on par with Windows.

Akip , in Counter strike 2 issues

The game is set to run full screen ( as windowed fullscreen caps the framerate to 60, while the screen supports 144 ).

In case your game also doesn’t launch on the main screen you can try setting the monitor to a different position on the virtual canvas:

fluckx OP ,

I’m only using one screen at the moment, but thanks for the input! Maybe it helps someone else, or me if i decide to hook up the other screen again :)

Fwiw, I’ve had no issues playing CS2 on either with my old (3700x/1080ti) or newer setup (5800X3D/7900XTX) with PopOS. The first doesn’t seem too far away from your rig, have you tried switching the Nvidia driver you’re on? I think Turing is fine with 560?

fluckx OP ,

Good point,it hadn’t crossed my mind yet. I’m assuming it’s using the proprietary nvidia drivers. I’ll give that a go.

The problem is that the game developers at Valve don’t know or care about their own platform. CS2 on Linux is an afterthought, possibly even ported by other people within Valve. CS2 had a lengthy beta period on Windows, with the formal CS2 release, the beta cycle on Linux just started.

pete_the_cat , in A Small Tool to Make Modding Proton Games Easier

Nice! I’ll give this a try at some point. The only reason I still have Windows 10 on my desktop is because playing and modding Skyrim via MO2 is an absolute nightmare on Linux. The last time I tried it (about two years ago) it was far more trouble than it was worth and I ended up getting about 15 FPS on a GTX 2080.

DarkThoughts OP , in Strange rendering issue in Starfield.

Alright... I don't know what the hell is happening, but after I put my 6650 back in yesterday and going to bed I started the game up just now, waited for the shaders to go through and loaded the save that I left at to test the textures on my old gpu... And yeah, my ground textures are back, somehow...

It can't really be the shader cache though, because that was rebuilding on my old gpu already, and of course on game updates too. And I'm pretty sure I even deleted my old cache files a few times to test this too. But aside from that or another Proton Experimental update, and me switching my gpu back, nothing else happened that would explain this?

Anyone who experienced something similar before who might have a clue?

gazoinksboe OP , in Options for Lian Li Fan Control

An update: I fiddled with connecting the L-Connect controller to splitters, and a PWM and RGB hub I have and the results are the same: the Lian Li fans are not recognized by the BIOS unless I unplug the USB connection on the Lian Li controller, which kills RGB. When I used the splitter, it actually made my other fans invisible to the BIOS too. Looking closer, I noticed the PWM connector from the Lian Li controller only has 2 pins so I’m assuming it just won’t work without the L-Connect 3 software. Bummer

vividspecter ,

If it’s controlled by USB you might be able to create a VM and passthrough the controller. Feels like overkill, but could work.

Shot in the dark, but does running the Windows software in Wine work?

gazoinksboe OP ,

Thank you for the advice! I tried to run the software in Bottles but while I could run the installer, launching the program threw an error 🤷‍♂️

I do not remember the name, but there was one being developed and the UI was made with QT. I don’t know if it used it’s own method to download games or was just a GUI for steamcmd.

soupermkc ,

We’re guessing you’re talking about this?

coke38 OP , in DirectX nobara wine multiple installation

Thank you for your answers, I swapped back to kubuntu and will see if I can get it working. Thank you for your time and sorry for the bother.

I just finished Quern on the weekend. Beautiful and fun game, but the puzzles really challenged my little brain.

WeLoveCastingSpellz , in Has anyone played Skyrim special edition on gog?

Most mods aren’t comlatible with the gog version or have seperate download for the gog version. You can disable updstes on steam.
