I am not exactly well versed in the ways of backing up an entire Arch install and was hoping you wonderful folks here could help....
Hi Friends,...
Hi everyone, I have been trying to get Lemoa to work on my PostmarketOS setup....
The end goal is to be able to sign in from my friends computers and have my files there seamlessly and my friends able to sign in on my computer with their files there seamlessly. We could set up ceph nodes at each of our houses
I have been having some trouble doing this and was wondering if it is a common theme or there is room to make it better....
Personally I used to use Pidgin, but since I moved my XMPP to Gajim because of OMEMO I have no need to stay tied to it necessarily. So I’m looking to expand my horizons, and I figured here’s as good a place as any to start a discussion about Linux IRC clients....
Some projects only give you .tar.gz, what am I supposed to do with them? Is this what people call building from source? Am I supposed to move it to /opt and extract it in Debian based distros? Does this also work on Arch based ones?

If you’re over on mastodon it would help if you could submit an answer to my poll over which Linux distro I will hopefully settle on...

I’m running the latest plasma with X11 (Arch). Fractional scaling is working fine with all the qt based apps but I’m experiencing size issues with gtk apps (Lutris or VMware for ex.). Fonts are rendered ok but scaling is not correctly applied to window and icons (titlebar is too small). Is there some kind of workaround?...
Tldr: Are there fan drivers I should look into for my Gigabyte Aorus XC laptop (Intel i7; RTX 3070; 32GB RAM), so my fans do not get stuck at 100% when running Linux? I installed Mint 2 yrs ago when this happened. Im aware I cant tell for sure without doing another live boot, but I’d like to prepared just in case....
Problems are related to where distrobox is stashing a clblas and openblas package. It’s on the base system too, further complicating searches. I’ve tried all kinds of stuff with no luck. I hate the massive find command’s obfuscated ancient API of a full sized ANSI language specification. Python or C is easier than that...
So I’ve set up pop os, everything went smoothly. But I have a problem - My pc is set to turn screens off after 15 mins, also to lock itself. But when it does that, my monitors shut down for a second, then start again so I can see it’s locked, then after few seconds monitors are blank but not turned off, led indicator is...
I got a Lenovo Ideapad recently—which is a particularly awesome graphics latptop/tablet combo, by the way—and threw KUbuntu on it. Everything went smoothly, and their official site was especially helpful in getting Windows 11 off of there and KUbuntu on it. It’s responsive, light weight enough to be portable but heavy...
EDIT/UPDATE: I have determined the issue is with my wifi and/or bluetooth! Disabling them in the bios fixed the issue. I’ll have to look later into how I can get them working properly....
First of all, I’m sorry if this isn’t the best place to post this; but I’m not aware of any more general tech support / PC building / ASUS forums here that I could post this to instead....
It’s great to see them doing that again!...

For some reason, when I enter the command given on flathub.org/apps/com.jagex.RuneScape, flatpak install flathub com.jagex.RuneScape, I get the error Error: Wrong size for extra data https://content.runescape.com/downloads/ubuntu/pool/non-free/r/runescape-launcher/runescape-launcher_2.2.11_amd64.deb error: Failed to install...
Edit: I solved this using the command gsettings reset org.gnome.Settings last-panel...
Occasionally my laptop will just loose all wifi connectivity. Running dmesg at those moments provides this output: [ 1588.714014] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Error sending REMOVE_STA: enqueue_hcmd failed: -5 [ 1588.714017] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Failed to remove station. I had a hard drive die today. I shut it down and pulled the drive from the computer, but it didn’t boot and I still couldn’t SSH into it to figure out what was wrong. Finally had to setup a monitor and keyboard to figure out Ubuntu was in emergency mode because the mount failed....
Do you use a non-tiling window manager like IceWM or blackbox? I use a patched version of motif window manager and it works really well....
