[SOLVED] This seemed to have not worked before but on a closer look xfce package xfce4-netload-plugin 1.4.0 works well. This was pre-installed into MX Linux and does the job. None of you seem to be using xfce, any reasons?...
Hi all, I have a 4k monitor and the steam app is very tiny. I have found out that I can fix it by running the app in the terminal with steam -forcedesktopscaling 2, but it is getting tiring launching it through the terminal. Is there any way I can change something in the app itself and make it launch with that command? KDE...
A few years ago we were able to upgrade everything (OS and Apps) using a single command. I remember this was something we boasted about when talking to Windows and Mac fans. It was such an amazing feature. Something that users of proprietary systems hadn’t even heard about. We had this on desktops before things like Apple’s...

As a user, the best way to handle applications is a central repository where interoperability is guaranteed. Something like what Debian does with the base repos. I just run an install and it’s all taken care of for me. What’s more, I don’t deal with unnecessary bloat from dozens of different versions of the same library...
I’ve already made a post about this, I made the switch from an Nvidia GPU to an AMD one and I was wondering if I needed to install anything extra. I’ve heard the drivers are included inside the kernel but how do I ensure that it’s installed?
Hi all, I have just built my first PC ever. And having dealt with nvidia the last 5 years on Linux and experiencing the pain first hand, I went all AMD. For now, I only have the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G and this things is a beast (I’m saving up for an AMD GPU). The only thing I do is emulate some old games. I’m still getting some...
Used a Debian Sid Hyper-V VM and aas trying to install Steam, but the ui wasn’t displaying and before that it wasn’t responding. On GNOME, I also had the cursor leave sprites of itself. Planning on using Xorg when I reinstall the VM for these reasons. Also looking to use fractional scaling at 125%. Any advice?
So I’m running Debian Sid on Hyper-V VM and when I tried installing Steam, things didn’t work. Saw that the VM was using Wayland. I also had other issues like the cursor leaving sprites of itself randomly. Planning on using Xorg for these reasons when I reinstall the VM. Will use GNOME as well. Looking to use fractional...
Recently, I switched from Windows to Linux, tried many distros, and ended up with the Ubuntu rolling-release. Things went well for some days, but I started facing some issues like printer issues, gaming performance issues, and overall Ubuntu performance issues. So, I switched to where it all started, which is Windows 10. Now...
I’m currently using an HP with Windows 11 and WSL but I’d love to switch to Linux, proper - at least just on my development machine. I’m standard LAMP, though I also would use Node and Rails, too....
