I run several VMs in Libvirt, host is Debian 12. I’m want to create one dedicated to Samba sharing. What is the best way to expose more disks to a QEMU host? I have 6 SSDs I want to utilize on this VM....
I see a lot of posts about Redhat for putting their code base behind a paywall. I’ve only been using Linux as my main desktop OS for a couple of years now. Someone recommended Fedora at the time, and I’ve been happy with it. I had previously tried PopOS, Mint, and Ubuntu, but none of them convinced me to switch from Windows...
I tried it once a long time ago. Does anyone here currently use it? What do you like about it? What do you hate?
Seems like IBM is going to make RHEL closed source. What’s everyone’s opinion about the move? I feel RHEL is now the evil villain distro of the community.
Hey guys! Is there a way for me to force apps to treat e.g. $HOME/.config/ as their default directory to look for settings? I want to clear up my home directory because its getting quite messy and I don’t even have that many packages installed yet....

I am looking for a distro that is based on Gentoo or is heavily inspired by it. I am a long-time Gentoo user and Debian on system where I don’t have the time to maintain it. I love the flexibility of Gentoo, but although my hardware keeps up, I find my self often not willing to wait hours for an update on my main machine. I am...
I’ve seen a lot of talks on the benefits of immutable distros (specifically Fedora Silverblue) but it always seemed to me as more of a hassle. Has anyone here been daily driving an immutable distro? Would you say it’s worth the effort of getting into?
I seem to be noticing a little bit of a trend lately that the out-of-box experience and overall quality of “mostly should just work” desktop-focused Linux distributions has declined. Usually, you could grab an .iso of distros like Ubuntu, Fedora, Manjaro etc, install it and have a decent enough platform out of the box to...

I’m looking to buy a new GPU. My main use case will be training and running neural nets (tensorflow+pytorch); gaming isn’t really a priority....
I’m curious about what you think on how it will affect the Linux community and distros (especially RHEL based distros like Fedora or Rocky).
My plan is to buy an NVMe today, install linux as a dual boot, but use linux as a daily driver, to see if it meets my needs before committing to it....
Basically what happens is my monitors are positioned incorrectly. So the monitor that should be to the right is to the left and vice versa. This makes using my setup quite difficult, since I have to move the mouse to the left to get to the monitor that’s physically on my right side. Can someone show me an example configuration...
It’s great to see them doing that again!...
I’ve heard of immutable OS’s like Fedora Silverblue. As far as I understand it, this means that “system files” are read-only, and that this is more secure....

Some time ago on Reddit someone poste a link to a video meme about Saitama/One Punch Man and Linux man pages....
Hi everyone!...
