Linux on an MacBook Air M1

I have been having some trouble doing this and was wondering if it is a common theme or there is room to make it better....
First of all, I’m sorry if this isn’t the best place to post this; but I’m not aware of any more general tech support / PC building / ASUS forums here that I could post this to instead....
So recently I learnt about these x86 offerings of armbian. The Jammy version looks very enticing, for a nice stable experience....
Since Jan 11, 2022, I have worked on getting the Nexus 5 over on Mobian....
EDIT/UPDATE: I have determined the issue is with my wifi and/or bluetooth! Disabling them in the bios fixed the issue. I’ll have to look later into how I can get them working properly....
Great perspective on what Red Hat is doing with a couple historical incidents where they were violating the GPL. And at the end of the piece notice they refused to let the Software Freedom Conservancy review sales materials to make sure they were in compliance and not misleading customers. A typical megacorp with profits over...
Hello,...
Hello, everyone. I have this problem where my external HDD doesn't get detected. On an old laptop with Windows 7, it gets detected, but it won't open. On Fedora, it doesn't even get detected on the whole system. In the KDE partition manager it does show up as "sdd", but it will not show up in Dolphin or in the terminal, when...
Needed to do the partitioning manually, but couldn’t find the answer anywhere. Is 16GB for each a bit too much? xdd
Hello! I recently upgraded my laptop with 500 gb of storage but it’s on another disk from where I have installed linux. How can I expand my linux root partition when linux is installed on another disk and I am also dual booting with windows? I am using linux mint.
Personally I used to use Pidgin, but since I moved my XMPP to Gajim because of OMEMO I have no need to stay tied to it necessarily. So I’m looking to expand my horizons, and I figured here’s as good a place as any to start a discussion about Linux IRC clients....
Hello. I am new to the Guix GNU+Linux distro. And I’m trying to get the latest version of Anki (2.1.65). However, an older version (2.1.16) is what’s there in the Guix channel (which is too old). I’m reading here that a simple edit to the education.scm file (the version var) would fix it. Unfortunately, the education.scm...
I have been out of the loop for a while with the development of Linux/GNU based OSes on phones. However, with seeing how companies (like reddit) can change the rules as they wish, I want to see if completely switching to Linux is possible....
I have been facing the annoying issue of touchpad presses while typing since my last reinstallation. I had never faced a similar situation before (or I never noticed). The disable-while-typing gnome dconf was set to false. The issue was apparently with libinput not recognizing my touchpad as internal. Thankfully, that can be...
I am receiving this error when I attempt to install via the manager, but I am able to install via Terminal. That said I am getting an option to install for either System or User, which I haven’t previously seen. I’m sure this is probably something pretty basic, but I’m fairly Linux illiterate… beyond knowing I can mess...
This is hopefully the final part of our series on Red Hat’s communication disaster regarding the changes to Red Hat source code availability through the CentOS github. Today we are looking at what the Software Freedom Conservancy has too say on the matter.
I bought a new ssd that is way faster and larger than my current one. What is the best way to transfer everything from my old drive to my new one. Currently running Fedora 38, fine with the command line. If nothing else I will just do a clean install on the new drive and copy over what I need from /home on the old drive.
