pineapplelover , in How can I fix this rotation issue?

Your screen on the left appears to be rotated vertically, rotate it 90 degrees clockwise and it should be better.

interdimensionalmeme , in How can I fix this rotation issue?

The command is

swaymsg output DP-2 transform 90

AnnaFrankfurter , in How can I fix this rotation issue?

Put one hand on the top and one on bottom and rotate the screen by 90° or π/2 radians

ta00000 ,

If you have to read PDFs regularly having a vertical monitor is a lifesaver.

UmeU , in How can I fix this rotation issue?

You could use Windows 11 from Microsoft, it can do both landscape and portrait.

UmeU ,

I couldn’t resist

baatliwala ,
Hugh_Jeggs ,

I vow to do the same on each appropriate thread my Liege

It’s only right

Hugh_Jeggs ,

It’s true though, every thread about Windows is full of Linux users saying how you should just use Linux, and others saying they still can’t because it still doesn’t work properly after all this time. Then you get the Linux users saying “iT jUSt wORks”, then posting shit like this demonstrating that it clearly still doesn’t

If you think this is very witty and a gotcha, you’re wrong. This argument doesn’t work in reverse because whoever is using Linux already knows all about Windows, since, y’know, it has most of the Desktop market in its grip

This is like yelling about straight pride

Hugh_Jeggs ,

You type well for someone holding their head at 90°

Jokes on you, I typed this on a mobile device

Sure.

I could also shoot off both my testicles with an M1911.

UmeU ,

Is that what it takes to get two different desktop orientations using Linux?

No OS is perfect, as you likely do have to use a proprietary modem and some proprietary apps, but CalyxOS works well for me on my Fairphone 4. I like the base install being as free as realistically possible on a modern Android phone, especially replacing Google apps with microG. Just don’t enable SafetyNet if you don’t want it to run (sandboxed) Google blobs. That API is deprecated anyways.

The experience is smooth, free and I get a repairable phone without having generative “”“AI”“” shoved down my throat. A win on all fronts in my opinion.

I’m looking at getting a new phone this Christmas. I’ve been fucking with fedora on my main and Garuda on a cheap mini pc in the garage. So I’d like to swap my phone over too. What is a good model to look into or a good model to await?

    sleepybisexual ,

Pixel 6 or 7 any variant, not carrier locked. I use a 6a

possiblylinux127 , in what foss phone OS do you use and why?

    I personally prefer Lineage OS
