SystemD not installing on manjaro (xfce)?

My system runs perfectly fine, but I noticed that udev was not installed. So I tried running yay -S udev and that seemed to install systemD, which got a bunch of errors and warnings along the installation. Very unexpected coming from such a foundational package. Here is the output from yay -S systemd (there is some german in...

Artifacts on Chromium in Pop!_OS (dormi.zone)

I get a lot of visual artifacts when first opening Chromium on Pop!_OS with a 12th gen intel Framework laptop. Relatedly, odd black outlines will appear around different elements around the OS occasionally. I believe I’m on the most recent drivers and such, is there some other configuration necessary to fix this bit of cruft?

How to get xdotool to send simultaneous keypresses at precisely the same time?

I’m playing tekken on pc, and my keyboard unfortunately has a limit to how many keys can be pressed. So I’m trying to fix this by using xbindkeys and xdotool to map the combinations to a key press. This works unless the combination calls for pressing more than one key at a time, and I think this is because there is a very...

Is anyone else using the Orange pi zero 3 right now?

Because Im currently typing this on mine (1 GiB, android install) and everything is (very surprisingly) rock solid – page loading is very smooth, youtube playback is smooth as well (it can even play 4k videos no problem) and even gaming works flawlessly well (Havent went too far beyond PS1 games, but from PS1 and under it...

What is the lowest overhead web browser that can support a localhost/Python/Gradio web GUI for AI?

I’ve been playing with the largest models I can get running and have been using Librewolf or Firefox, but these use several gigabytes of system memory. What options exist that have less overhead? I’m mostly looking at maximizing the model training potential as I’m learning. The obvious solution is python in a terminal, but...

Why do all windows react differently to xdotool resize

Yesterday I tried to layout a bunch of program windows via xdotools moveto and resize. In theory they should have been all the same size, but they came out all different, and none had the targeted size. They all had space around them. What is involved in this process? Are there invisible borders, or stuff like that?

Fan drivers for a Windows laptop

Tldr: Are there fan drivers I should look into for my Gigabyte Aorus XC laptop (Intel i7; RTX 3070; 32GB RAM), so my fans do not get stuck at 100% when running Linux? I installed Mint 2 yrs ago when this happened. Im aware I cant tell for sure without doing another live boot, but I’d like to prepared just in case....

Log filesystem changes? Track what a java app modifies on the fs?

I’m trying to run a java app that creates settings/configuration files, but I’m not sure where and how exactly it’s creating those said files. For that I was thinking perhaps I could log any filesystem changes in a dragnet way (as in, log the entire filesystem). Would anyone know how to do that without much hassle? Tried...

Microsoft starts to improve VS code for Unity good news for Unity 3D on Linux (devblogs.microsoft.com)

This has happened after leaving VS code almost unusable for some years since debugging wasn’t working on Unity 3D. I was able to use an old version of VS code omnisharp that would allow me to debug Unity on my Linux desktop. Do you think there is some EEE agenda in this decision? Or this is good news?

How do I configure a password less Polkit? [OpenSUSE Tumbleweed] [KDE Plasma]

It’s getting tedious to put in my password every time I open YaST, I know what I’m doing and since I’m the only one who uses my computer the security risk is something I’m willing to take. I found an Ubuntu forum post but the solution didn’t work for me. Any ideas?
