Hey all! This is my first post, so I’m sorry if anything is formatted incorrectly or if this is the wrong place to ask this. Recently I’ve saved up enough to upgrade my graphics card ($350 budget). I’ve heard great things about amd on linux and appreciate open source drivers so as to not be at the mercy of nvidia. My first...
I’m shopping for a new NVMe SSD drive for my laptop and with the second deciding factor being Linux compatibility, I’d looked up the names of specific drives in the source code of Linux and discovered that their controllers have quirks that have to be worked around....
I recently tried to enable system-wide DNS over https on Fedora. To do so I had to to some research and found out how comfusing it is for the average user (and even experienced users) to change the settings. In fact there are multiple backends messing with system DNS at the same time....
In case you don’t know Multi-Gen LRU is an alternative LRU implementation that optimizes page reclaim and improves performance under memory pressure. Page reclaim decides the kernel’s caching policy and ability to overcommit memory. It directly impacts the kswapd CPU usage and RAM efficiency....
I installed Debain 12 about a month ago, and kept having difficulties with the package manager. It seems to lack any sort of sources in its default configuration, so that I had to manually add some which I saw online to the sources file. By default, the sources file only refered to some cd-rom thing, even though I installed the...
How do I make a dual Boot for Windows 10. When i already have fedora. I want to use a single SSD for both systems. Also is it possible without loosing my current data.
My system keeps booting into the live image of Pop!_OS 22.04 rather than my encrypted partition. I ran boot-repair-disk but the system keeps going to the install image. I verified that the bios is pointing to the correct disk at boot and I verified that my data is still in the encrypted partition....
I would really really really like to have one device on my tailnet as the exitnode for all other devices on the tailnet. However, most VPNs make this really difficult. Is there any way to do this? I’ve read it’s possible with split-tunnelling, but ProtonVPN (which I use) doesn’t support that. I just installed Alpine Linux...
I use a keyboard with an american layout because I find it much much better for programming. However, since I’m portuguese, I want to use some characters that don’t exist in the american layout, such as á, é or ç. In windows I selected the US international layout with with dead keys and I could do everything....
Im planning my new config and one of the primary issue is that Im unsure whether 7950x3d is worth the hassle. If I went with 7950x, I would surely want to fiddle with overclocking....
I’m using Windows and only asking here because Google says it’s a Linux thing, but my question is what is a Bluez and why was it trying to connect to my computer at 5AM this morning?
So, I’m looking to rent a VPS to host a site and stuff, there’s a reasonably priced provider in my country, the only thing is when I went to check the OS the machine runs I was expecting something like Ubuntu server, Debian or maybe some RHEL-compatible, what TF is cloud Linux? All that I could find online is the company’s...
I am going to sit for the RHEL 9 version of the ex294 exam soon. Does anyone have any general exam tips for the ex294? If anyone has sat for the RHEL 9 version, care to share (within bounds of the NDA) any insights?
Not looking for a solution, really. Ended up installing proprietary nvidia driver because I need the machine for my job. Just wondering if anyone have similar experience....
