I am looking for a customizable status bar that works with wayland and qt based apps. I have looked at waybar, and most of the other ones I have tried are gtk based and don’t quite look right. I have tried eww, ironbar, yambar, and waybar. Any help would be appreciated.
I am moving from docker to podman and selinux because I thought that podman is more secure and hence, the future. I thought the transition will be somewhat seamless. I even prepaired containers but once I migrated I still ran into issues....
Does anyone know of a way to distribute donations to multiple open source projects at once? I would like to donate more frequently and broadly but because of the large number of different projects it would be laborious and inefficient to donate small fractions of what I can afford to each of them manually. What would be helpful...
So, being frustrated with a firefox addons copy not showing up with shift+ins in gnome-terminal I decided to switch gnome-terminal paste shortcut to shift+ins....
Hey all! Yesterday, I’ve made following post: How to choose your first distro - A guide for beginners (flowchart + text post) and need some input and critique from you....
Listen if you have actual constructive criticism or want actual discussion please post. But if your sharing your uninformed and misdirected opinion about why Wayland or X11 sucks your contributing absolutely nothing to the internet. If your someone looking for quick debunks here you go:...
Quite the unpopular opinion, but I just wanted to post this to show the silent majority that we still exist. We have reached a point where voicing criticism against wayland is treated like the worst thing ever and leads you to being censored and what not. The red hat funded multi year long shill campaign has proven to be quite...
I saw the other day about the new video of Hardware Unboxed where they benchmarked the Intel GPUs with newer drivers on Windows. I’m also interested in buying one but I’d like to know how good they are on Linux. Since the GPUs will be using Vulkan renderer on Linux, I was hoping they would be better overall, or rather have a...
There are plenty of utilities (GUI, such as filelight and TUI, such as dua as well) for analyzing disk usage by space, but I would like to view my folders based on the count of files, as I’m making backups, and folders with lots of small files (e.g. node_modules) take very long to move around, so I guess that I’d be better...
Hey folks I’ve been a Fedora workstation user for some time now and love the experience. I should have switched from Windows to Linux sooner. I have a small question today. I bought a Steam deck a while back for gaming on the go. Nice device that gives me tons of fun. I would like to use the little handheld as a backup device...
I have used obsidian and excallidraw for my note taking, especially excallidraw for math where I draw with my tablet. But since I started using emacs for programing I would like to move to org roam for school notes. However, I have not found a good alternative program for obsidians excallidraw plugin (I find gimp a bit to big...
I like using emacs-style navigation in the terminal (e.g. Ctrl + N for down, Ctrl +P for up, Ctrl + A for home, Ctrl + E for end), and I want to do something similar for navigation elsewhere. I would like to use CapsLock + N/P/A/E/etc for down/up/home/end in all apps (I previously used the AutoHotkey script at...
I bought an old iPad2 for the purpose of viewing a Home Assistant dashboard via a web browser. My thinking was that the ability to browse the web was the sole requirement for a tablet for this purpose, but I was wrong: Home Assistant’s web pages apparently require a newer version of javascript than iOS 9.3.5 can handle, but...
