and i don’t just mean “because it’s google and google is an ad company”. what specifically is it sending to some internet server that firefox doesn’t? both the firefox and address bars send what you type into them to a search provider. as near as i can tell, firefox’s committment to privacy is to say “we protect your privacy” while doing all the same stuff that chrome does.
Firefox blocks a bunch of tracking by default. Chrome requires the user to take action to prevent that tracking. I also recall Chrome leaking hardware UUIDs some years back when Chromium did not meaning Google added code to cause that. I think that has been fixed for awhile since I don’t immediately find info about it.
Christ this shit hurts so bad. Fuck Reddit but you all really should learn how a corporation works and what a BoA is. Spez doesn’t decide what Reddit is. He only executes on vision. Reddit wasn’t getting series G funding in the current economy. Monitizartion of Reddit was coming spez or not.

If spez wasn’t such an asshole he would show some integrity, honesty and transparency. Even if he exexutes on someone else’s bidding, there are so much better ways he could have gone about it that would have gained support instead of hate from the community. Like, for starters, not make groundless accusations of blackmail against an app developer? This guy is a crook, and I refuse to support a society where money is used as an excuse for throwing morality out the window.
Besides I don’t even think this will benefit them financially. History will consider this a turning point toward Reddit’s demise.
It’s just an encouraging shitpost. Indeed the past was good however they need to learn what happens when you fuck up a good thing one way or another, this is just one of those ways.
