Trickle down economics

woshang OP ,

wdym?

RedstoneValley ,

It was meant to be a word play with a neocapitalist concept by that name. It’s literally trickling down on the users.

For the first time, researchers appear to have evidence that, like animals, plants can audibly vocalize their agony when deprived of water or forced to endure bodily harm.

trust vs necessary.

I don’t trust them but they are a necessary evil for some tasks. like messaging apps, what use is Signal or other secure/foss messaging app if the people you need to communicate with uses meta products. so it is necessary for me to use meta products in order to facilitate communication with some group of people.

Operating system our company only uses windows and provide a laptop with windows as an OS. now why would I go to trouble myself in reformatting this laptop to unstall other OS when it isn’t even mine and would get me into trouble, not to mention break compatibility with my worke ecosystem. so, i use windows.

so yeah, it applies to others as well

I say it with a soft G. Fight me.

Small tech can be much nastier as they have less scrutiny on them. Think of all these companies writing spyware for governments/corporations around the world.

English is phonetically inconsistent, you can find examples to support both ways of pronouncing it.

Stovetop ,

There are some consistencies in letter patterns, just not in individual letters. For example, no word that starts with go-, ga-, or gu- pronounces the g like a j (except for the archaic gaol, and there’s a reason the spelling was changed to jail). It’s mainly limited to ge- and gi- words.

Inconsistencies with the other options are probably due either to how the term came into English (English is practically built on loanwords) or some other subsequent pattern of letters I’m too lazy to try to identify.

The only real rule is that words come and go and change organically. People don’t just decree that a word needs to change like some king of language.

Water written backwards spells retaw. If you adjust it a little it says retard. Are you gonna take being called a retard by water? Ban water today and stop the insults!

Her father, Doug, was equally shocked at the message, considering his younger daughter Fiona has cerebral palsy and autism.

That’s horrible, but what are the chances of that happening? I’m not saying I don’t believe the story, but those are just wild odds!

SomethingBurger ,

Surely a low percentage, but Coca Cola sells a lot of bottles, it had to happen at least once.

999 ,

I was late for a flight once (in Canada) and they put a sticker on my luggage that said Retard. Just means late in French. You better believe I kept that sticker.
