sunbunman , in We all have 'that game'. For me, it's Europa 1400: The Guild. What's your's?

It used to be an old CCG called Alteil, probably have 1k+ hours on that. After playing bg3 this week, defs bg3, but I do have a habit of wafting around a bunch of crpgs.

Limeaide , (edited ) in Just want a solid gaming laptop

It might also be worth looking at Steam Deck alternatives. GPD, AYA, ASUS, etc.

I only own a Steam Deck, but I’ve seen a couple videos on alternatives and they look pretty good. Since you were already planning on spending laptop money, an upgrade might be worth it so your mom can have that extra power. They might not be as user friendly as the Steam Deck though

i also recommend doing a factory install of your OS with a USB drive

argo_yamato , in Take-Two CEO Says Red Dead Redemption Port Pricing Is 'Commercially Accurate'

Yeah I will probably wait and see if the price drops as well. I have it on an old PS3 which is OK but the controller isn’t the greatest so having it on a new system would be nice. Just not $50 nice.

Are you not able to replace the battery in them?

Tutunkommon OP ,

I tried but either age or removing the battery caused it to desynchronize. I got it right before Wrath of the Lich King, so it had a good run.

ilco , in Valve is now selling refurbished Steam Decks with up to £110 off

That is great news. This could make moding a steamdeck a bit more buget friendly. Would love to know if this option is avalible in the eu (nl) I wouldn’t mind getting a refurbishd steam if it’s cheaper

HorseFD , in *Quake World Championship* Starts Tomorrow-August 10th!

For a minute I thought this was the championship of Quake World.

Would I like this game if I love WoW? Vanilla/BC WoW, not modern retail crap

SlowNPC ,
@SlowNPC@kbin.social avatar

It's totally different from wow. Wow is a real-time mmo. BG3 is a turn-based fantasy RPG (think Divinity:Original Sin or Wasteland 3).

It’s D&D.

Do you like D&D? If so, yes. If not, no.

XLRV , in I tried playing the two original Baldur's Gate games on Ubuntu. It's hell.

Have you tried to add the game .exe as a non-Steam game, and using proton as a compatibility tool?

@bugsmith@programming.dev avatar

I enjoyed reading this so much. I am ashamed that I am British and a big fan of video games, but never knew that Rare was a British company. I’d never even heard of Ultimate, but I’ll put that down to age.

Rare made some of my absolute childhood favourites. It’s a shame they fell from glory, but it’s good to remember that a company is only as good as it’s people - and people move on - much like the previously adored Blizzard.

Skiptrace , in Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of August 6th

I finally got my PC up and running and I am playing a hell of a lot of BattleBit Remastered. It’s what Battlefield 2042 SHOULD have been. It’s basically if Squad and Battlefield 4 had a Roblox Baby made by literally 2 developers.

Its absolutely the BEST shooter on the market right now, and it’s dirt cheap. Please, this isn’t an advertisement, but GO BUY IT NOW.

kd637_mi , in Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of August 6th

Baldur’s Gate 1 single player, Divinity: Original Sin 1 in co-op. I was playing through Colony Ship which is another isometric RPG, but I didn’t want to get to the end of the early access content before release later this year. I figure if I play through the originals of BG and D:OS I’ll have a good amount of time to wait for BG3 to be in sale and have some updates maybe. That or Colony Ship will be released.

macracanthorhynchus , in Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of August 6th

I’ve been playing little bits of Aven Colony, a straightforward and fun space-colony-themed city manager. However, mostly I’ve been watching my wife play Baldur’s Gate 3 and thinking "We should really buy another beefy gaming PC before Starfield launches so we can both play games simultaneously… "

    You could make the same argument for voting. What does your little drop in the vote bucket matter? Do you believe voting is a waste of time too?
