Meh, give it another 10yrs and Wii games will be selling at the original prices. Rip game/vintage computer collecting. You were a fun and inexpensive hobby until the rich assholes got to it.
There are still companies that make physical copies, but typically it’s in limited quantities and sadly I’ve found that most of them (especially one of the big ones, LRG) can be pretty scummy. I think the only two I’ve found that are worth buying stuff from are iam8bit and fangamer.
I think the Playstation 6 will be cheaper than Playstation 5 Professional. Why? Because its the baseline and not Pro. The reason why the Pro model can be this expensive is, because its an optional hardware and doesn’t even need to sell well. Selling the baseline Playstation 6 unit is crucial for Sony and they need to sell a lot. Also this establishes a new height, which means if the next generation console PS6 is cheaper than PS5 Pro, then it looks like a bargain.
Also the current Yen and price conversions are expensive for Sony, so it depends on the future market if stuff gets cheaper as well. And if there is good competition. At the moment, there is no Xbox competition at Pro model line or even much of at baseline versions.
They just released Riviera: The Promised Land on Steam for $35, so I don’t think retro games will maintain their value. Studios will just re-release them and charge full price again if the secondary market heats up.
True, but a card or a comic isn’t dependent on an equally old electronic device to be useful. New in box retro games have value as collector pieces, but used games that have modern re-releases are much less valuable.
I would try out the original before playing 2. DD2 is very similar to the original but DD2 is better in my opinion. If you enjoy the first, you will almost certainly enjoy the second. DD2 may go on sale for Steam’s upcoming Fall sale, something to think about.
