The docs only mention to create an account alias to the old account. However it doesn’t clarify what to do next, as on the account alias page the migration should be done on the old account. I have not found the setting to do this next step.
[…] being able to say, “wherever you get your podcasts” is a radical statement. Because what it represents is the triumph of exactly the kind of technology that’s supposed to be impossible: open, empowering tech that’s not owned by any one company, that can’t be controlled by any one company, and that allows people...

Many Lemmy instances have “feddit” in their name. Is that just “federated reddit” or am I missing something?
I was having some issues finding myself in the search on other instances and wanted to see if I’m doing something wrong or if somebody has advice to fix it. Long story short, I’m a fan of Nostr so I’m usually on there. It’s bridged to the fediverse, so that usually gives me my microblogging fix on both sides of the...
Mastodon is a great platform. I have an account there, and I have been using it as a twitter replacement for several months. I have been using nostr for around two months. I have also read fairly deeply into how Mastodon and Nostr work. I think nostr is better. Here’s why....
in summer 2023, when I moved here from reddit, the lemmy instance beehaw.org was extremely divisive. they wanted to create a website according to certain rules rather than a free for all. some people were saying it would be the end of the threadiverse before it even began....

For our third episode of Decentered, we talked to Ryan Barrett, the creator of Bridgy Fed! Ryan has a lot of experience in working with a variety of decentralized social web protocols, including IndieWeb, ActivityPub, AT Protocol, and Nostr, and has a lot of interesting thoughts on making them talk to each other.
The end goal of this proposal is to build interoperability features into GitLab so that it’s possible on one instance of GitLab to open a merge request to a project hosted on an other instance, merging all willing instances in a global network....
I just saw, that fedidb now has data for the biggest fediverse accounts, so I did a little plotting with it. Here is a graphic of the scattering of the 100 biggest accounts by the instance they are on. 38 of them are on mastodon.social https://fedidb.org/popular-fediverse-accounts (the data is in the alt text) #mastodon #chart...
