Accounts which solely post advertisements, or persistently post them may be terminated.

Nostr and Mastodon have both positioned themselves as “twitter alternatives” and both offer some degree of federation. I have done quite a bit of reading and testing with both and am writing this in case you are curious about which one may work best for you....
I know some of you consider this as documented whining. I hear you but won't stop sharing my opinion and reminding. I recommend continuing commenting on the original post to keep it a bit organized (this post is a link to it)...

Next to Mastodon.world and Lemmy.world I am also running Calckey.world. This was running Calckey, a Misskey fork. That was re-branded to FireFish (that’s the danger of running sites with the software name in the URL… :-) )....

When registering a country code domain, keep in mind where the domain is being registered. A shift in government or geopolitics can have serious consequences.
Seems like an interesting effort. A developer is building an alternative Java-based backend to Lemmy’s Rust-based one, with the goal of building in a handful of different features. The dev is looking at using this compatibility to migrate their instance over to the new platform, while allowing the community to use their apps...

It seems like any platform that features link aggregation is soon overrun by bots and self-promoters trying to drive traffic, and pages and pages of link posts versus pages and pages of people talking....
