Can someone explain the Fediverse to me In simple terms?
I get the general gist, like email different instances can communicate with each other but beyond that I’m lost....
There have been multiple accounts created with the sole purpose of posting advertisement posts or replies containing unsolicited advertising.
Accounts which solely post advertisements, or persistently post them may be terminated.

Sorry, I stopped using Reddit for way less than what people in the fediverse have done....
Edit: thanks everyone for the suggestions!...
By advantage I mean posts from those instances receiving more visibility than others on feeds that sort by score (active, hot, top)....
I am considering creating my own lemmy instance as my current instance (lemmy.world) is often down, and I enjoy this kind of a project. That being said I haven’t been able to find any resources on hw needed for this? If I have a raspberry pi 4b 8g with 128gb is that enough for just me using it? Do I need to pay for a cloud...
Communities on different instances about the same topic should have the option to essentially federate so a post on one appears on all of them and opening any of them shows you the comments from all of them. By browsing the current top of the day, besides the usual posts in Programmer Humor and the tech communities, you can notice a few posts in !comicstrips by @otter...
I’m a Patreon now! Lemmy has become my daily goto (yes, ex reddit) and you guys deserve all the support you can get!...

If you click a Fediverse link, and no-one else from your instance has already done so, it seems like your instance has to contact a remote site, pull the data and render it, in the same timeframe...
I have looked and I see people make their own instance of lemmy...
I am curious about the fediverse outside of lemmy. Is there any good documentation or recommended services? I’ve seen talk of mastadon, matrix, and kbin but I don’t understand how use them with my current Lemmy account....
I never saw anybody complaining about Sync or its pricing. But I’ve been inundated with bad memes about how it’s wrong to criticize Sync....
Hi, I’m focusing on generating content for a few communities that I feel can be successful and have less content than I expected:...
Should politicians use mastodon instead of Twit… sorry… X? What do you think about it? I think if popular people (like politicians) start using fediverse, more people will become interested in this technology. If so, how do you convince them?
With all the talk about expensive clients, how to fund the developers and big instances not managing to keep up with the influx of users, I’d like to tell you about my work on Communick and what I am proposing as an alternative model for a sustainable growth of the Fediverse....
