I know it is a known Classic but i liked Animal Farm so much i had to share. Before reading i thought that it would be similar to 1984 or Brave new world which it kind of is but its also very very different. Right from the Beginning i was hooked. I really love Orwells Books but this one is my favourite. I did not expect that. So...

Did many of you even have much nonfiction?...

In universe I mean, not by the reader. I remember the few times I saw stories like that were fairly… cringe; the MC was usually a loner and the people didn’t have a good reason to hate him, if any at all!...

I’m a big fan of the movies and I’ve know for a while that the character is based off a series of books, but I’ve never gotten around to actually picking any of them up.

Wow, what a great adventure! If you haven’t heard of it, it’s about an English sea captain who gets marooned in Japan around 1600, and has to adapt to Japanese culture. Lots of politicking, romance, and decapitation. Very loosely based on real people too....

I was watching the tv series on Apple TV and got hooked. The pace was a little slow though and some parts of the plot seemed over worked and drawn out. Nevertheless, the premise for the show was so intriguing to me that when the first season ended on a cliff hanger, I opted to jump into the books instead....

Now I’m reading Pandora’s star which is a great scifi book and sandwitched inbetween the great scfi chapters there is this uninteresting detective storyline with zero scifi, people talking to eachother...

I started reading it a month ago (I’m a slow reader lol) and got to the middle of the book. I really liked the first part but half way it started to feel like it’s repeating itself and lose its meaning, like where does it go? It feels stuck....

I appreciate fiction, but I almost always read nonfiction. It’s probably because I typically choose the books on topics I’m interested in and want to learn about. But I also love the way a great nonfiction writer can weave a narrative so strong that it’s just as much literature as it is journalism....

I finally read “Old Man and the Sea”. I have tried to start it many times, but the beginning was just so slow. Has anyone here read it? What are your thoughts on this Ernest Hemingway classic?
