I remember seeing a reference to this in a Cartoon Network ad - except they had all the famous cartoon dogs like Scooby Doo, Huckleberry Hound, Mutley etc. I always looked forward to that ad as a kid, thought it as pretty cool seeing all my favorite cartoon characters hanging out and stuff.

Our neighbor had a carpet depicting dogs playing poker hanging on their wall. Not these exact ones but a different group. That was 30 years ago.

Yes, for some reason it was always painted/woven in “velvet” of all things, so I can see why people think of it as carpet.
