Accounts which solely post advertisements, or persistently post them may be terminated.

I try to keep my images separate from my instance in case something happens to it (and because I like having control/it’s fun), but I overcomplicate it and host an image server myself lol. That’s not much help though, so I’d reccomend finding an image host (not catbox-they seem to have bandwidth issues) like postimages.org or something. Try to find something that’s been around for a while/isn’t going to shut down

The Lemmy instance server hosts it. When you are creating a post and click browse next to the image field it will upload the image to that instance. You can also host it somewhere externally as long as you can get a direct link to the image file. Then you copy paste it into the url field when creating a post.

If you want an image in the middle of your post you click the little image icon above the textbox where you type. Hover over it and it should say “upload image”. If you want to do this with an external image the format is like the following

I think I’m finally going to use Firefox. I suspect it’s the start of a long road to privacy and security that I probably should have gone down a long time ago.

I think the whole Fediverse idea has been nudging me towards it though. Thanks for your contribution to that.

i just use lemmy.world’s image host, but if i want to host a video i use file.garden or catbox.moe

select your file, and then it’ll then give you a url which you would then just put in the url box of a post, or anywhere else you want to share an image. don’t use imgur, they don’t permit using it to share images to other sites, which is ironic considering they’re an image host but hey don’t ask me why they do that.
