Thoughts on Pleroma? (pleroma.social)
Looking for alternatives to Twitter microblogging. Mastodon seemed cool but has its downsides. Pleroma purports to be lighter-weight to host and fully ActivityPub compatible. What’s the catch?...

I am trying to find a good service to read ebooks (preferably for free) but as long as it is a good experience I don’t mind paying. Thanks for your opinion.
Hey there neighbors,...
I’m going to be camping for 4 days at a location without easy access to fire (hence no boiled water). As such, I’m going to be packing a bunch of canned stuff for my daily meals. The place is in England, where we’re expecting a few hot days this week and maybe some rain over the weekend....
I recently read a funny comment and wanted to give it the 😂 reaction like I would on a Telegram post, but upvoted instead. Reddit had upvoting downvoting but wondering if Lemmy, being an open source innovative software, should evolve past the upvote downvote and allow for a wide range of emoji reactions to a post.
I know I am probably violating all the rules at once, but I didn’t really know where to post this.
It seems to me that over the last two weeks, the Lemmy experience has been worsening. My front page and communities are filled with Reddit re-posting bots....
When I joined the fediverse I thought I’d have an easier time moving between lemmy platforms. So far I have to create a new username/password on each instance and subscribe to all the things I want to on that new account. I kinda wish I can carry my lemmy user to other platforms more easily....

What do you guys think? It would definitely help bring more attention to Lemmy
The Powerball lottery is up to $1 billion tonight. If you won it, what would you do?
Let me know if there is a better community for this type of question. I am still learning my way around.
I mean, what do I say?...
I’m male aged 19-22, I have an older brother about 4-5 years older (giving age ranges for better anonymity). Relationship is… not good (read: it’s terrible, horrifyingly terrible, arch-nemesis). How about you?...
Or should I lose hope in humanity completely now?
I just got my package of new earphones from Best Buy, and the box was fucking empty. I mean there is the box and instruction manuals and charging cable, but the actual earphones aren’t there. They’ve used Shipt (which is like a doordash but for packages) but the box was inside another layer of packaging which was supposedly...
Nestle? Spectrum? Some random company nobody knows about?
Saw the post asking people for mising their plane stories and made me wonder if peoples lives where saved by missing some event so here I am asking
Instead of focusing too much on all of the things that are currently wrong, could you please help paint a picture of what a future utopian society could look like?...
A multi-community would be all communities with a certain name, across all instances. It would prevent powermods from being a problem on Lemmy. i think it should be notated with m/, just like communities but with m instead of c.
I have a tub of Vaseline and have hardly scratched the surface. I’m curious whether anyone uses it for anything other than their lips.
