Yup. All those that kill innocent Palestinians, such as the mass killing of Palestinians on the west bank on the first day of the conflict by Israeli settlers, should be punished and jailed. I just like going against the popular sentiment on reddit and redditadjacest sites like lemmy.
What have you done regarding this conflict? Did you join any protest? Did you call for the release of Hamas’s prisoners? Have you done the same amount of effort to call for the end of the massacre of Palestinians?
All the supporters of Palestine that I know absolutely support the return of any hostages, including myself. However we aren’t so one-sided to only demand that of Hamas. We also believe the 5000+ Palestinians held in Israeli prisons and military posts, many of which are illegally held without charges, unable to seek legal advice or see family, some of which are children, ought to be returned as well.
Don’t be blind to what is happening. It isn’t hard information to find.
You know, I often raise an eyebrow when Lemmy jumps straight to the “this action is directly fueled by racism!” Argument, but… well, this time I completely agree.
The basis of this ban, as far as I can gather, goes like this:
Terrorism is bad, so pro-terrorist demonstrations are banned
Palestine deliberately targetted & killed civilians in an ongoing, messy conflict
Ergo, Palestine demonstrations are now banned
That third link in the chain of logic is what bothers me about what’s happening in France. Targetted mass killing of civilians during war is detestable… but it’s not terrorism. Calling Palestine a terrorist state on that basis is a double-standard – one which I can only conclude is driven by the fear of what Palestinians believe & look like.
Exactly, by that basis pro-Israeli protests should be banned too. They’ve done the exact same shit.
Can’t wait for all the Israeli apologists to come in here and act like Israel doesn’t purposely target civilian buildings with the excuse of “Hamas was hiding in there” while providing no proof and haven’t done it a countless number of times.
It’s not that Hamas isn’t a horrible organization, it’s that people act like Israelis haven’t also done horrible shit and committed war crimes.
