I definitely used to run this on Wine (probably through Playonlinux) many years back, but I can’t remember if text ever looked fine, or if I just put up with it.
Anyway, tried it on my newer laptop just now and it shows up the same as yours. I think it’s the antialiasing (or shadow?) which is showing up solid white that is making it hard to read. I tried installing a fairly random selection of “winetricks” type things, but none made any difference.
You can slightly increase legibility by swapping the font - you can stick another font in the root folder renamed as “Comic Book Normal.ttf” and it’ll replace it - but it doesn’t solve the issue.
If you (or anyone) does solve it, it’d be good to know what the solution is.
p.s. I’ve got that menu song stuck in my head now.
The problem might be in the engine itsself, as the source code of the specific game is calling what seems to be generic text rendering features of the engine.
Yeah, I tried looking to see if there were other Blitz3d games with Wine reports etc, but found nothing useful so far. I feel like it’s done this text thing for a few years, but the game is a little too obscure to find a solution for.
Yes, they are and I do know that but Ill be honest, so much of the stuff coming through my feed is Israel and Palestine that my brain just switched tracks on me. I didnt notice until you pointed it out.
Until it takes action, it is an emotional support carrier. It’s a strategem straight from the age of gunship diplomacy.
The point of the carrier (if a I understand the White House’s intent here — I may not) is to discourage other national interests from jumping into the fray on Hezbollah’s side to escalate the fight.
Here’s the thing Hezbollah (the organized movement) wants the conflict to escalate, they want Israel to pepper the strip with old cluster bombs and fuel-air bombs. They would love nothing more than to successfully provoke the US to bring (as Trump once put it) fire, fury and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before.
While they sacrifice a few troops, it will mean hundreds, if not thousands of civilian casualties along the strip, maybe some collateral bodies as well, caused by the iron hand of western imperialist nations.
Israel may be glad for every dead Palestinian, but to the rest of the world, it’s unconscionable horror. And if we all brush it off, it will show to all how callous and inhumanly cold western society has made us all. But no, rather, public support of Israel and the United States would plummet. It is the best hope of Palestine to get some intervention while Israel engages in quiet genocide.
This is centuries-old counterinsurgency 101 stuff, but that means recognizing the smaller faction are actual human beings, worthy of personhood and rights. And the state of Israel will not accept this (even as its people do).
I feel like I’m way more impressed by this than I should be, like you’re a wizard or something even though it’s probably just some simple prompt. I think it’s because you went to the effort to learn this, then it came up for the perfect use in this comment. Also im way too lazy to learn something like that so I think that’s part of why im so impressed. Anyway im on the internet so I thought I’d waste the time of anyone who’s reading this by typing some extra words. But I’ve genuinely never seen this before so it’s actually made a truely awful day much better.
I’m really tempted to make this an actual keyboard on my phone, and just have the corresponding letters in their normal place so I could still type quickly. That’d be a fun keyboard
