Imma highlight the parts your brain doesn’t process because it’s full of tankie sludge…
MOSCOW, July 3 (Reuters) - Proceeds from oil and gas sales for Russia’s federal budget rose by around 41% year on year in the first half of the year 5.698 trillion roubles ($65.12 billion), finance ministry data showed on Wednesday
Most of the countries that are deciding to join recently are getting absolutely eviscerated by the dollar when it comes to foreign exchange, they all have very weak currencies because the dollar is just so incredibly strong relative to everywhere else.
It’s a lot more complicated than just that, but that definitely seems to be a catalyst at the moment
This article doesn’t cover it (specifically) so I went digging to see if this might compete with weight loss drugs as well:
Victoza (liraglutide) is also used to treat obesity. While it was originally approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, it has also been approved under the brand name Saxenda for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or who are overweight with at least one weight-related condition such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, or dyslipidemia. Saxenda and Victoza contain the same active ingredient, liraglutide, but they are marketed and dosed differently depending on the indication.
Google said:
As of April 2024, the list price for a 30-day supply of Saxenda (liraglutide) is around $1,350, but the actual cost can range from $1,590 to $1,656 without insurance or discounts.
Lol, in Europe Saxenda costs around 100 per box. Victoza and other versions for diabetics are even cheaper, as they are subsidized by health insurance (while Saxenda is not).
But how else can the poor widdwe phawmaceuticaw congwomewate affowd to lobby government and aggressively market our crap to overpaid private healthcare companies so we can keep overcharging the fuck out of drugs we can make for pennies do aww ouw impowtant weseawch that’s paid for by taxpayers with subsidies and grants.
Pffft no way, sweden doesn’t have gun crime because only american laws can do a gun crime, impossible without it. Those swedes don’t know how to build anything and there isn’t a single machine shop or black market dealer anywhere outside of the US!
Hang on I’m being passed an update…
It seems that machine shops actually exist everywhere and bad people can indeed get things illegally, or even legally if they haven’t been caught being bad yet. Man who’da thunk it? I could’ve sworn that “if we had gun laws like yurop” it would solve all our problems 600,000,000 unregistered guns be damned.
As he was too young to be sentenced
Check it out, the same logic that let Cruz walk free on the over 40 calls made about him before he shot up Parkland. Maybe charging murderous children is actually a good way to keep them from buying guns as adults which is much harder with a record in America, I can only imagine the same would apply to swedes, and then whatever senior members will have to get guns illegally (which tbh isn’t that hard but at least you can say you tried.)
Sweden, which is currently experiencing an outbreak of gum violence, has 62 fatal shootings in 2022. To put that in perspective, adjusted for population, the equivalent would be 2000 shootings in the states.
Actual number of fatal, non-suicide shootings in the states? 20000.
Difference being nobody is going around claiming the US is perfect. You ever talk to a european? They have an inability to admit anything bad happens there, generally, and if it did it was merica’s fault of course.
Oh I complain about the US a lot, as does everyone here on lemmy and everyone I know IRL, but europeens think they can feel superior for being little middle of the road countries the size of Michigan and forget we’re the size of the whole ass EU meaning that’s the correct comparison, which your “superiority” just doesn’t cover. Sure, NL may be fine, just try to be a black guy in the wrong berlin neighborhood though, I’ve heard some interesting stories about the “totally not nazi” police there. I also hear France is becoming Nazis, and sweden has a lot of gun crime and the occasional grenade attack, we don’t even have those in America lol, certainly sounds like we all have enough problems, but nope, you idiots have to pretend you’re better because deep down you know you’ll never be. Oh well.
I know I know the US totally compares well in terms of police violence and prisoners per capita. To North Korea. It also compares well in terms of gang violence – to Haiti or Mexico.
Meanwhile, Germans consider it a national embarrassment that the Swiss and Japanese have better train systems. All a matter of perspective.
Hmm the Germans don’t keep the trains running on time anymore? Interesting, you’d think if they kept one thing from 1933-1945 it would have been that instead of the literal nazi police members they still have. Strange. Funny you guys also have one of the sex trafficking capitols of the world, Romania. Btw of how are the UK racists who insist that “they hate the ‘gypsies’ for their culture” which is exactly what the racists say over here about the “thugs” and their “rap music?”
Foh lmao, we both have problems and you’re just as delusional as the nationalistic dickheads I’m always bitching at over here, but you pick an area the size of one of our states to be nationalistic about which lets be real is fucking sad.
Whoops my bad, that was Mussolini, Italy is in the EU too though and so was Franco’s Spain. I hear they still have a problem with fascists too, weird trend developing here. Btw fucking wild you’d say “animal trains,” of course they also compared Jewish people to animals so I shouldn’t be surprised, I guess that’s why you’re brushing the whole current nazi problem aside.
And wait I thought we could only talk shit and pretend our countries are the best, which the US is and it’s perfect, there are no problems. (That’s you, that’s what you sound like.)
Btw fucking wild you’d say “animal trains,” of course they also compared Jewish people to animals so I shouldn’t be surprised,
Maybe because they actually used animal trains. Cattle wagons. Something like that it’s not like I’m a native speaker. The type of train carriage built for purposes of transporting livestock.
What did you expect, 1st class accommodations to Auschwitz?
…and no, Mussolini didn’t get the trains running on time, either. The Swiss and Japanese do, though.
And wait I thought we could only talk shit and pretend our countries are the best, which the US is and it’s perfect, there are no problems.
Who do you mean with “we”, here? US and China? Oh, Bavaria. Bavaria also definitely qualifies.
Coulda went with murder trains or something less racist, really. Pretty fucked up dude.
Suuuree suuure which evil fascist dictator did it is really the point, ignore the “fascist” bit, that’s in the past, and ignore the “current” bit too because that would be admitting you have a problem and you can’t do that, you have to pretend you’re perfect, because you have nothing going for you other than white aryan Europeen “supremacy.”
You’re a reactionary, nationalistic, delusional, and seemingly racist person, seek help.
Coulda went with murder trains or something less racist, really. Pretty fucked up dude.
I don’t think having trains specialised to murder people in makes much difference to using cattle wagons to transport people to camps specialised to murder people in. In the grand scheme of things, in both cases you’re still constructing something specifically to murder people in.
Oh no, plenty bad happens here. Just that when comparing to the problems the US has… Yeah, it’s a good reminder of how well everything works over here, despite the problems.
Of course, plenty of good happens here too, it’s just that it doesn’t fit the “if it bleeds it leads” business model so you never hear about it. Some areas here are just as safe as some areas of europe, some areas of europe are just as unsafe as some areas here.
This may surprise you to learn, but the US is comparable to the size of the entire EU, and as a result there are similar variances in safety between the two.
Er, I mean, US GOOD EUROPE BAD. Did I fill my role correctly there after that silly nuance break?
The US is overall a shithole masquerading as a first world country, only on the basis that the US is lucky enough to have had Europe use the dollar to rebuild after WWII. You’d have to squint incredibly hard to find any place comparable to Europe in the US, and then you’d still be stuck with car centric neighbourhoods and healthcare that’ll put you in a life debt for stubbing your toe.
The intrinsic arc of utter corruption culminates in economic turmoil and ultimately the art of scapegoating. As the English politician realises that all the foreign labourers have been chased off and that they can’t just prop the economy up on ill gotten gains from foreign lands, that they must ultimately direct the ire of the masses inward.
Are you per chance a secret Chinese spy? Who knows?! Perhaps you are one, especially if you’re a member of the opposition party! Seen any red flags lately, hmmmmmm?!? Perhaps you like to dabble in electronics, like a little bit of maths, do we??? Even in our own party??? Moderate?!? You mean… possible collaborator…
McCarthy should be proud. The world was changed forever, and even though it makes no sense, most likely it’s the socialists, libertarians and anarchists who will be blamed, along with black and brown people, the gypsy, the jew, muslims, hindus and even possibly christians, whoever fits the bill, as hungry and angry masses are directed towards a new common enemy.
It’s the release valve of the leading class, the dog the elites can blame for hot air, it’s the scapegoat.
Yeah, whoever came up with that idea needs to be busted down to the rank of Buck Sargent for the rest of their career.
Nothing about this misinformation campaign actually defends America. In fact, arguably, it could even have harmed America significantly by persuading a population of the world to remain woefully unvaccinated and thus extending the worst of the Pandemic for the entire world.
Alternative plan: we all are stuck on this rock together and maybe we should prioritize maintaining its habitability over bickering about who is allowed to provide the solution.
Perhaps we should put some significant effort into not being stuck on the this rock. If humanity surviving is the goal, there are several cosmic events that could wipe us out much faster than climate change if they occur.
Yeah no such catastrophic celestial events are likely in the next few millennia, and we’re pretty good at predicting those things now. The impact of climate change is already affecting a billion or more people right now.
