TWeaK ,

Lmfao I knew I recognised that name from somewhere…

However your link is weird for me, had to copy the text and paste it to view. Otherwise it just comes up as https://<myinstance>/post/url. Maybe because your original federated post was deleted or something?

Kbin is weird and janky with its federation to lemmy.

solidsnake2085 , to news in US plans water heater standards, says they will save consumers $11 billion
@solidsnake2085@lemmy.world avatar

I’m a plumber in Denver and we are already dealing with the natural gas ban in the city limits. If someone’s gas water heater goes out it’s possible we have to wait up to two weeks to install one. This is after we have to give a detailed explanation as to why we can’t just upgrade to an electric one. If they deny the gas water heater and make us put in an electric one the cost for the homeowner is way more expensive. It’ll be interesting to see how this will all play out.

Natural gas ban? Hadn’t heard about that.

They passed it this year. Link

HomebrewHedonist , to world in Algeria applies to join BRICS, would contribute $1.5 bln to group bank
@HomebrewHedonist@lemmy.ca avatar

I have good reason to believe that the US government has abused their economic homogeny and taken on way too much debt to the point where other countries are doubtful that they will ever be able to honour that debt. These sovereign nations see the writing on the wall and China smells blood. I believe that the US dollar will collapse altogether and everyone else dollar along with it. At this point, China will come in and offer an alternative that is tied to gold, just like the days of old. Then China will take over this homogeny.

I really hope the western elites have a plan otherwise this is going to be some changing times.

DogMuffins , to worldnews in China solar power capacity could post record growth in 2023

Yes… but how many new coal power stations have been commissioned?

yogthos OP ,
@yogthos@lemmy.ml avatar

China has an actual concrete plan that they’re implementing to transition off fossils, you can read all about it here if you actually care

DogMuffins ,

Behold my blog spam expounding the virtues of kitten farts as the fuel of the future.

Both those articles were written prior to 2022, during which china approved 106GW of new coal power plants.

yogthos OP ,
@yogthos@lemmy.ml avatar

Once you actually read the articles you’ll see that China’s coal use is in fact in line with the goal. Meanwhile, renewable and nuclear capacity in China is growing at breakneck speed while the rest of the world is doing jack shit. Anybody claiming that China isn’t doing their part is deeply intellectually dishonest.

But looking at history of NK and how they treat Americans who enter the country, I hope he said his goodbyes

I don’t think (sadly) they’ll lose all 3 but even losing just one would be, historically, a shock. Even a decent swing to Labour in BoJo’s seat would be a large concern to the Tories.

Mrkawfee ,

The Tory media will spin the results as a blow for Labour whatever happens.
