I love seeing how much she has changed over the years. From rambunctious kitten, to bratty teen, reserved (but affectionate) adult, and now shes more curious, playful, and talkative than ever, I feel like Im watching her grow. I just wish cats could live forever.
Reddit execs don’t care when people post like this. They aren’t browsing the sub, all they see is user engagement is back up and that’s a win. They can sell that to advertisers as a win. If you showed them the page they’d think it’s weird but they probably wouldn’t know it have ever been any different.
The only win to be had with the sub re-opening is to post nothing at all.
Yeah but that’s not what they’re doing. They’re doing a contrarian circlejerk that’ll get boring after a few days or until the next thing happens with the steam platform that they all want to talk about. There’s already a highly upvoted post there about the UI update.
Did the mods actually make any kind of decree like that, though? It sounds like they’re just doing an easily ignored automod message on every post and letting the users do as they will. The post i mentioned has 7k upvotes right now and its a been up for at least one full day. www.reddit.com/r/…/about_this_weeks_update/
The best way for the Reddit community to fight back is to leave to another community. In order for that to happen the Fediverse options have to keep growing and improving, like they are, so that people leaving feel comfortable knowing they have a good option. Reddit will be dead in 6 months.
The SRA is the Socialist Rifle Association. It started out as a group of all flavors of leftists (anarchists, MLs, demsocs and everything in between) working together to create a positive gun culture for leftism and to train people to defend their communities and themselves during the rise of the alt-right and Donald Trump-style fascism in the States.
However, many branches of the PSL (Party for Socialism and Liberation, a strongly ML political party in the States) decided that the SRA was the perfect vehicle for them and so instructed their members who were also members of the SRA to do everything they could to push out the anarchists and demsocs. Now it is just another branch of the PSL.
I’m not American myself and this was just explained by a few American friends of mine who were formerly in the SRA and even had leadership roles in their chapters; one was a demsoc and two were anarchists. In my own country there are almost no MLs; they came to power back in the 60s and 70s as part of our national liberation but then they just ended up being power hungry, as all MLs eventually become (or were in the first place). Nobody has faith in them anymore so anybody who is leftist is pretty much anarchist or at least demsoc.
And anybody who praises the government of North Korea has absolutely zero moral high ground on which to stand
I’m not one of these guys masturbating over my dream revolution or anything, but armed minorities are harder to oppress, and are less tempting targets for individual or group violence.
I’m a queer guy in Portland. There are violent extremists in my town who want to kill me, and are organizing and rallying. I’ve seen them in the streets, and they’ve attacked people and places I care about because they know that the left wing is broadly non-violent, and that cops are on their side.
Looking at the political climate in the US, I don’t think it’s too unreasonable of a reaction to buy a gun and learn to defend yourself, just in case.
I always unlock developer settings on a new phone to fix my Bluetooth volume. Android assumes Bluetooth devices have adjustable audio, so if they don’t it sets the default to max. Then you basically have two settings: “kinda quiet” and “I’m slowly losing my hearing”. Disabling absolute volume makes it so your phone only registers your phone’s volume buttons.
My car has this, but a car I’ve recently rented didn’t. It was fun pulling up to the gas pump having no idea what side the tank was on and noticing there wasn’t any arrows.
Its pretty funny - I learned this the last 2 years I was to own a gas operated car. I had always struggled with certain models on which side the gas tank was and would embarrassingly have to switch stalls when I came out to realize I was on the wrong side.
Now I just have to remember what side my charging port is on, passengers get the zap is how I remember
LOL, same here. Most of the time I knew, but in a rental car or something, I could never remember...
My charging port is in the front center now--and this is causing me problems with some street chargers because I can't get the cable far enough over. There's no arrow for that....
Yah, Leaf 2016 model. I got ticketed by the city for parking the wrong direction. I tried to explain to them that they chose to site the charger in a way that caused this problem, but they said they didn't care and don't do it....
Never knew anyone with one, but I always wanted one when I was a kid. Magazine coverage made them look awesome. Now I’m old and still want one! But it seems they’re a bit high maintenance…
