Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. “Mankind.” That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it’s fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom… Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution… but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: “We will not go quietly into the night!” We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Some example video?

zikk_transport2 ,

I just tried. It’s basically github.com/xinntao/Real-ESRGAN expect OP’s program upscales video, frame by frame, and combines those frames into a new video.

Video looks like it’s made by AI. Tried on old video - not sure if old or new video looking better. Contours in new video are difderent with each frame lol.

OP did a great job, but overall technology is not there yet. Videos aren’t looking good tbh.

Does it configure it’s own venv or do I need to to that?

It’s very ai-upscaley. I think if there is some extra processing steps, then this could be really good.

Quality was bad because ScaleUp had bitrate problem. Now i fixed that. Results now much better.

Here we are in 2023 and people still have to ask for venv and which Python versions. I don’t understand why these AI devs on these smaller scales seem to be container adverse.

Great pic!

How does it normally look? I’m from the Pacific Northwest in the states so the waterfalls here almost always look like this

hexual OP ,
@hexual@lemmy.world avatar

Ta very much!

Well the UK has been getting increasingly warmer in the last few years, which has often been accompanied by extended periods of dry weather. The Lake District in Cumbria typically receives most of the rainfall that comes across the Atlantic to these isles, but we’ve had a lot of summers recently where it didn’t rain for months. This July, by contrast, has been very wet and cool.

Squidquid ,

Super interesting how climate change seems to be effecting different areas. While your July is cool and wet this year, a lot of the US and northern hemisphere in general has had record heat waves and wildfires in areas that are normally cool and wet. Go figure lol

hexual OP ,
@hexual@lemmy.world avatar

Aye, well for July what seems to have happened is that wave after wave of low pressure systems have been dropping lower across the Atlantic, crashing into Britain, and pushing high pressure systems further south into southern Europe, where they’ve been experiencing record-breaking high temperatures.

sin_free_for_00_days , to cat in Glitch is not a big fan of the outside world

Cats shouldn’t be let outside anyway. Ecological disasters they are.

BestBouclettes OP ,

Yep, that’s why they live in a controlled environment 😁

TheWeirdestCunt ,
@TheWeirdestCunt@lemmy.world avatar

There is no difference between a domestic cat and a wildcat, as in they’re able to interbreed because they’re genetically the same species. So if you’re in a region where they would naturally exist (effectively all of Eurasia) then it’s perfectly fine to let your cats go outside.

TLDR: It’s only bad to let your cats out if you live in the Americas or Australia.

BestBouclettes OP ,

It’s bad because of the sheer number of them. A single cat can kill over a million animals over its lifetime I believe. A single pair of cats can produce around a thousand cats over the course of a few years, so that adds up. I love cats but they’re absolutely an ecological disaster if left unchecked.

If you want to read more about it

TheWeirdestCunt ,
@TheWeirdestCunt@lemmy.world avatar

If left unchecked yes, but if it’s someone’s pet then it won’t be unchecked. I still believe that all pet cats should be neutered (until we have the stray population down anyway) but if they have been neutered then you shouldn’t force them to live their lives indoors (again if you’re in the natural ranges for the wildcats they descended from). Cats have extremely large territorial ranges so unless you live in a mansion your cat will not have enough space if they are stuck indoors 24/7.

BestBouclettes OP ,

Neutered or not they will still kill for fun, that’s what cats do. And they have lots of fun. Indoor cats have a longer lifespan and are generally healthier than outdoor cats. Also, with the proper stimulation and environment, they’re happier indoors. You don’t need a mansion, you need high shelves, scratching posts, hiding places, etc. The amount of space is less important than the quality.

infernalaudit ,

I don't disagree with you that cats kill lots of animals but a million over its lifetime is way too high. If you assume a 20 year lifespan, that's 50k/yr or a bit under 140 per day, every single day. The wikipedia article cites one study that claims ~90 animals killed per year, which seems much more reasonable.

Glamorous9899 , to homeassistant in How to configure multiple Piper voices?

i run HA through docker, and from what i can tell, you would need to run different piper instances in order to load different voices, then add them in to the wyoming integration. i’m not sure of that, but seems like a workable option. i might give this a try tonight or tomorow. if both instance responded at the same time, it might be a much for the processor, depending on what you host on.
