I never liked two panel. Back when Gnome 2 was around I would always combine them into one bar at the bottom. Seems like wasted vertical space to have two when one can do the same stuff.
You beautiful bastard! I had one of these and thought it was one of the coolest bits of tech I ever owned. Your post generated so much nostalgia over having to hold my watch in just the right aspect to complete the data transfer. I remember people watching me sync and being shocked (although that was perhaps at how much of a nerd I was to have one). I like to think they were reacting to the tech.
Very nice work! Now I just need to find my old watch…
The devs have been working their butts off. They make post with complete transparency about their growing pains. The devs of leemy.world and others get together and troubleshoot as a team, especially lemmy.ml. everything is posted on GitHub. It’s awesome to see and support. I’ve been here for about four weeks now, and it has been fun to watch it grow, and participate in the user community.
So… for the top menu bar, you copied macOS, complete with an Apple logo. Then, for file explorer, you is copied Windows 10/11. Everything else if your generic Linux distro. What are you trying to accomplish?
My analysis: OP is too dangerous to be left alive.
The file browser looks like windows. But the top bar is very Mac like, maybe if you put a start menu it would help. But to get a windows feel, you’ll need the start menu, application window bars, and the status info all at the bottom (default windows).
It’s so bad over there. Might be the worst case of quantity over quality. It’s just stuffed full of brands trying to make themselves relevant and influencers posting engagement bait. I’m not even exaggerating, 100% of my feed is that.
There’s nothing of worth there other than sheer volume.
And why would anyone be the least bit surprised? Copy paste facebook and all of its very genuine issues. It’s not a social platform, it’s an advertising platform.
I’m not surprised in the slightest, but I’ve seen lots of posts saying how diverse it is over there, and how vibrant, and that it’s more like old Twitter.
And yeah, it’s brands posting stale memes and old Twitter personalities fighting for their lives, so I guess it is like old Twitter.
