CrayonMaster , to insanepeoplefacebook in I think this is the craziest sovcit so far because he wants the pope to sign whatever this is.

Does he think he’s jesus? And that the pope has Jesus’s birth certificate?

The point of this comic changes radically based on the perception around the word “giving”:

  • Literal meaning of “giving” as in a giving charitably? This implies the freedom to decide to not be charitable. In that light, the comic makes no sense.
  • A slightly less literal meaning of “giving”, as in handing over goods, services, or labour as part of a mutual exchange? In that light the comic comes across as either arrogant or just naive.
  • “Giving” as in giving away under the presumption of coercion? Then yeah, this comic makes a lot of sense.

I don’t think the last interpretation is going to resonate very well with the people who need to hear the message the most.

Steve ,

Selling would he a better word, as that’s literally the case.

I don’t think you’re the one having a stroke.

Modern researchers have demonstrated how to saw through stone with the tools that were available to Ancient Egyptians, but I’m pretty sure they used alien tech because that sounds like fun.

Social media lets stupid people spread their dumbass ideas and makes the whole of society stupider.

Cool if I use your quote for my substack?

Nuke_the_whales ,

Even the whole “how did they move all those stones to the pyramid sites, and how did the tip of this Pramod end up all the way over here?!”

Egypt is full of ancient River systems that have long dried up and been covered by sands. They used those to move all the material, but since they’re gonna and dried up now, we just scratch our heads and wonder how they got there.

With all the plants overgrowing atop the sign, it looks like a picture from the post apocalypse, where the gas prices were obscene during end times.

I’d love for gas to be less than $5 near me!

takeda ,

It’s $4.09 14 minutes from me according to the gas buddy and where I live the gas is more on the expensive side.

Catoblepas ,

Also since it’s Catalina, no offense but where are you going in a car? Everything in Avalon is basically right there. Aren’t all the vehicles on the island supposed to be under a certain size (and presumably have pretty good fuel efficiency) too? I haven’t been to Two Harbors so I can’t speak on the need for a car there.

How could the poor, poor CEOs afford their super yachts?

vzq , to mildlyinfuriating in Meanwhile in California

Those would be relatively normal prices in Europe.

Corigan ,

For a gallon or per liter?

zkfcfbzr ,

$7.35/gallon is €1.79/liter, which based on this page with data from a bit over a week ago is about middle of the pack, but pretty cheap if you’re just counting the richer countries that are probably more comparable to California in particular.

MrsDoyle ,

In the UK I’m paying about £1.41 to £1.45 per litre. I’m no good at maths sorry, you’ll have to do the calculations.

vladmech ,

That’s about $6.85/gallon then, ouch. At least you have functional public transit overall unlike California.

takeda ,

£1.45 per litre translates to $7.03 per gallon. So I would say the claim that prices are comparable to European ones is spot on.

immutable , to mildlyinfuriating in Meanwhile in California

This is nowhere near the average price

I had this or a similar one. It was just solid colors that would cycle, not like a disco ball. It was actually super useful for using the bathroom late when it’s dark or the lights are off.
