Not sure if this is your photo, but what this cat is doing could be a sign of a serious medical problem. If this is your cat, I would get this floofer to the vet ASAP.

The picture looks like the cat is asleep, which doesn’t seem to be “head pressing”. The picture looks like normal cat behavior to me.

citrusface ,

The cat is head pressing. It may also be asleep.

mx_smith ,

My cat sometimes sleeps with his head down just like this, but he doesn’t do the head pressing thing described in the article posted above.

blahsay OP ,

Not my cat but I’ve seen cats just do this randomly in sleep

citrusface ,

Not sure why you are being downvoted - if anyone has a cat that does this, this is not typical cat behavior, it generally does mean something may be wrong with your cat. Yes. Some cats do it just because - but often times it does mean they are unwell and youl should get them to a vet.

NekoRogue ,

I think some people just want to look at cute photos of cats without thinking about negative things. I can understand that. But if I posted a photo of my cat exhibiting what could be a symptom of a serious problem that I wasn’t aware of, I would want someone to tell me. I know OP said this is a repost, but I still think it’s important for anyone who loves their cats to be able to tell if something is wrong. This doesn’t look like normal cat behavior to me.

MyNameIsRichard ,
@MyNameIsRichard@lemmy.ml avatar

Two of my cats just used to sleep like that, one a lot and one not so much. They both lived to a grand old age in good health. I’m not saying that it can’t be a problem but your cat may just be weird.

NekoRogue ,

I’m not saying cats never do weird things, and the cat in this picture may be perfectly fine. But if my cat were doing this, I would take them to the vet to make sure because it could be a symptom of something serious. That’s all I’m saying.

MyNameIsRichard ,
@MyNameIsRichard@lemmy.ml avatar

Well yeah, if you’re worried, see a vet and pretty much certainly if they’re head-pressing against a wall.

I think of all platforms, Webtoon maybe has the best voting system (and I don’t even have an account there, I saw it from a friend, lol):

It doesn’t allow you to vote on your comments and it shows both upvotes and downvotes seperately.

On the other hand, having the freedom to vote your comments seems nice too, so I’m not very sure which system is the best…😅

Lightfire228 ,

I like Reddit / Lemmy’s system best

Auto up vote your own stuff (or just don’t allow self voting, same difference), and being able to see both up and down votes separately

Although i think the latter isn’t a thing on Reddit

Such techniques are often used to sell a conclusion with data that doesn't agree. Scaling, cropping, etc. Visuals are very powerful, and people will look at a graph and assume it's correct.

one glance and you'd assume that the average Indonesian man only comes up to the calf of the average man from The Netherlands

ramble81 ,

I was trying to figure out what was bothering me about it. Basically 1’0” - 5’0” is 1 tick mark part foot and then it’s 1 tick mark per inch. So basically you have a 12:1 ratio for the first 60 inches so it’s not a linear, logarithmic, exponential or any normal type of scale.

takeda ,

Or simply, according to the scale from top of the head to calves is only one foot. Their head is only an inch tall.

danc4498 ,

Their feet starts at the 4 foot 8 inches mark.

I’m 6’4" (193 cm) and I felt totally average walking around Amsterdam. As opposed to being a mutant freak in Tokyo.

JoMiran ,
@JoMiran@lemmy.ml avatar

In the US, it also depends on the area. At 6’4" you might be normal in Salt Lake City but a freak in Tampa. My wife is 6’2". In most places she is by far the tallest woman (and often person) in the room.

When we lived in Park City (Utah) she didn’t seem as tall and often would not be the tallest woman there. It was fun to see.

nimpnin ,

6’2" is still 9 inches taller than the average woman in Utah. Is Park City some kind of extreme international anomaly?

JoMiran ,
@JoMiran@lemmy.ml avatar

I didn’t mean to imply that evey woman was 6’2"+ . Let me be more specific. In twenty years living in Louisiana, Texas, and Florida my wife never met a woman anywhere near her height with the exception of a set of basketball playing twins that lived in our condo building in Austin. We hit Park City and she sees women that are 6’0"+ pretty much daily. Not every woman, but also not unusual to see at least one. I do not know the reason for this.

EDIT: grammar

Num10ck ,

well to be fair the amount of people in Park City Utah that have Dutch ancestry is 1.219%

so on this chart its like half.

Viking_Hippie ,

TIL that Mormons are just normal Americans that grew too tall and were driven insane by the altitude.

“So why aren’t Dutch people all Mormon?”, you might ask. Simple: cannabis and women with full legal control to do or not do what they want with their bodies are excellent inoculations against Mormonism.

JoMiran ,
@JoMiran@lemmy.ml avatar

Can I join LDS so I can also be inoculated?

Viking_Hippie ,

I’m afraid you’ve gotten the order wrong. If you ask nicely by way of completing the necessary paperwork, you can visit the Netherlands for the inoculation, though!

Lynxtickler ,

This is already noticeable between Finland and England. According to the stats I’ve seen, the averages between the two are two inches apart. So, I’m average or just a tad shorter than the average man in the UK. In Finland I’m 5cm shorter than the average, and I kinda feel oddly tall every time I walk around in London because of that.

Viking_Hippie ,

I’m about a centimeter above the average for an adult male in Denmark and feel like a giant every time I visit the US 😄

Red_October ,

If it makes you feel any better, you’re a mutant freak no matter where you go, but some societies will be better at making you feel accepted.

RNG manipulation to get the initial delay to be exactly what you want. Or just wait a few cycles to see what time table you’ve been given before you hit the button to stop the scroll.
