That’s it. You let the meme fester in your mind. Slowly, the more you think about it the funnier it gets. Coincidentally you’ll also have a much more difficult time preforming, communicating with others and reading. You will think about it more and it’ll get funnier. You will notice a punk slime dripping out of your ears and nose accompanied by a rotting smell emanating from your skull along with flies buzzing around your head. It will be at this point when you’ll truly understand and appreciate memes like this.

PenisWenisGenius ,

I think it’s working. I accidently got cum in my eye earlier.

db2 ,

Sorry about that by the way.

In Internet culture, shitposting or trashposting is the act of using an online forum or social media page to post content that is of “aggressively, ironically, and trollishly poor quality”. Shitposts are generally intentionally designed to derail discussions or cause the biggest reaction with the least effort.

Could you translate this comment into English for the non trekkies out there?

finley ,

it’s a line from the opening of ST:V - The Final Frontier.

[ Spock - in rocket boots- flies up to Kirk, who is ascending the face of El Capitan ]

KIRK: Spock, I’m trying to make an ascent here. Go bother Doctor McCoy!

i rammed all of the words together, mimicking the speech of william shatner

TheTetrapod ,

Between how long they had known each other at that point and the situation Kirk was in, I find calling him “Doctor McCoy” very jarring.

finley ,

It was the very beginning of a movie that not everyone had seen the prequel to. If it had been a TV episode, Kirk would’ve just said “bones”

DigiDemiFiend , to lemmyshitpost in Half baked, like the original!

I fucking hated that movie. My 4 year old only laughed at the YouTube cat videos they spliced in occasionally.

Etterra , to insanepeoplefacebook in The Romans couldn't build a pyramid. Checkmate, archaeologists.

I would love to convince these kinds of people to build their own Pyramid but out of concrete so they can prove everybody how right they are about it.

Kind of like how my answer to flat earthers is to just have them go and lower GoPro over the edge and tell us how that goes for them.

It’s okay though, they’ll come up with some excuse to why they can’t go do it.

In grade school, the teachers didn’t care about the content of our essays. They only cared about structure, grammar, spelling, etc. Which meant that most kids would restate the same thing fifteen times using slightly different words each time–not making a case by providing multiple arguments or pieces of evidence, just rehashing the same statement over and over. One of my teachers referred to it as “verbal diarrhea.”

That there is some watery-ass verbal diarrhea.

Wolf314159 , to science_memes in yarr

The real subversive move is to email the authors and ask for a copy of their paper directly from them. Science needs peer review, but it does not need publishers hording knowledge like dragons.

Etterra , to lemmyshitpost in High suspense

If you purposefully do something like this and then fall to your death, let’s be honest. You were literally asking for it.

MotoAsh ,

Not in all situations are people totally choosing to do this kind of stuff, and often not for the risk but an interesting dsstination. We don’t really have the means to safely get everywhere, yet. Even driving on normal roads isn’t without some lethal risk.

AndrewZabar , to assholedesign in Thanks, but I don’t need to know the weather in my personal space

Years ago when I had a jailbroken iPhone and a firewall app, I had downloaded and tried the Accuweather app. That fucking app contacted TWENTY-SIX third-party servers to upload data. Like a few moments into setting it up and running it, the harvesting hath begun. I was like - fuck that, and deleted the app. I haven’t even considered using it ever since. This was like mid-2000s.

odium , to insanepeoplefacebook in The Romans couldn't build a pyramid. Checkmate, archaeologists.

Feels very racist. They assume Romans were better at everything than all other civilizations of that time period.

ChicoSuave ,

That’s the crux of white superiority racism in the west. Romans are elevated to a near mythical level of advancement by people who can’t do trig. That “advanced civilization” idea is then applied to human rights problems like slavery and libertarian ideas like Crassus’ fire fighters. Racists are also notorious for not thinking shit through and that short term planning problem is why they never actually succeed, they just fuck up shit for others and then die.

saltesc ,

And as we know, Egyptians and much of the Ancient Semitic lands were advanced. All those empires didn’t fail because they were stupid societies, it was usually conquering armies, plagues, or a string of terrible leaders. The sciences held strong though, especially leading in mathematics and astronomy up until only recent—relative to how far back were looking.

Tar_alcaran ,

Ancient Egypt specifically fell because of Rome, but it had a much better time at the early middle ages than a lot of other former roman provinces.

Rinox ,

Ancient Egypt specifically fell because of Rome,

It had been conquered by Alexander the great and ruled by Greeks for 300 years before that. And Alexander the great had conquered it from the Persians.

it had a much better time at the early middle ages than a lot of other former roman provinces

It was part of the Roman empire up until the 7th century when it was conquered by the Islamic Caliphate. During the Roman period it was the richest province in the Empire and pretty much funded the whole thing. It was also a personal possession of the Emperor due to its riches.

knitwitt ,

The pyramids were built over two thousand years before the coliseum. Saying they are of the same time period is like claiming the Eiffel tower and the coliseum are of the same period too!
