Okay, so as a cab driver I have a lot of opportunities to get frustrated with how selfish and myopic people are. But you know what happens when I do that? I make myself miserable.
I, personally, find that my mental state is much, much better the more I’m willing to accept people not doing things ‘the right way’. Yes, I could get annoyed for the hypothetical people who might encounter an obstacle to their mobility here (who have not and may not ever arrive), but what will that actually do for me or for anyone else?
Unless I’m actually moving the obstacle my disapproval is completely useless. It may even cause me to do something stupid and inconsiderate myself as I become distracted by my annoyance.
But if I just let it go, smile, and move on, the utter insignificance of the action can just fade into the background and not make itself part of my focus on how to reflect on humanity or my day.
I heard it’s psichologically unhealthy to hide them in your darkest parts of mind, after all they’re just sitting there in your subconscious without you knowing it. Frustration will keep gathering though, please speak to your friends, family or therapist about these issues before depression hits.
If you suppress it, letting it fester, you’re right. But that’s not what they’re talking about.
They’re describing actually letting it go. Letting the emotions wash over you and dissipate naturally. It may look the same on the outside, but internally it’s very different. It’s by far the best skill for your mental health.

You could move the bikes for that hypothetical person. I can not move a bike like that because of my disability.
Personally I could pass those at the side, but I have friends who need a walking aid or wheelchair who probably couldn’t. Vehicles parked in the middle of the way are a regular road block. It is often because people without disabilities can’t (or won’t) imagine that people who can’t move a bike or climb over a scooter exist.
Is this hard to do in practice? I would love to see a breakdown like this in the United States, and especially on a local level. What’s involved in getting this information? Where does someone even start to request something like this?
It would not be a good use for Blockchain technology. Besides the problem that your dollars are a fungible asset that don’t have a physical object associated with it, as soon as you dollars get converted to another state, account, entity, whatever along with another thousands people’s dollars you would lose the tracking. And ultimately even if you could achieve this it would then either all fall to one or two accounts so you would have the disheartening effect of seeing your entire annual contribution spent on something tedious like fuelling an aircraft carrier, or they would attempt to distribute it evenly in which case why not save all the effort and just track the average spend budgets? It’s a solution looking for a problem here.
Ah, thank you for the explanation. I thought that money could be tracked even through conversion, but now I see how that wouldn’t be possible. It’s better suited for tracking bitcoin and the like, right?
Part of me wants to see that tedious spending of my money but I suppose it wouldn’t do me any good. An average breakdown would be nice, starting with my property taxes.
Dead-easy, they aren’t locked to a permanent object, just move them behind the car, and then they’ll neither be stolen nor your fault if someone else parks their hoods into the bikes. Move the offending bikes past the car
I have a long and special history with Comcast. My city has given them the sole monopoly cable contact. So – I believe – they are obligated to provide me service. The distance from pole to house is too long. No less than 3 service people have come out and said they have to put in a thicker cable like those used on the telephone poles. Nope – the work order always disappears. Of course, they have to pretend they will eventually do something, because – city monopoly.
Used a signal booster for a long time and that helped (I had to buy it) except at holidays when everyone was home. Then more people in the area got service – dropping the signal.
After some years, T-Mobile 5G moved in and I happily dumped Comcast (monopoly only applies to cable).
There is more, but you get the idea.
Never give Comcast a monopoly on service. Even had me considering satellite Internet in the middle of the city at one point!
Thanks – it does become funny for me as more time passes. Not so funny was the year Comcast signal was too weak to operate for 10 days over the Christmas holiday.

My kid was conceived via IVF. I literally have a picture of him as a 5-day-old blastocyst. Honestly, who is actually stupid enough to still be sending sensitive personal information by text? It doesn’t matter what app you use to send it; once it’s sent, it’s inherently unsecure because now someone else has it in their posession with nothing but their personal integrity protecting it.
Signal messages are (verifiably) end to end encrypted. That means no one other than the sender and receiver can read their contents. You don’t have to rely on Signal’s integrity, since Signal is (verifiably) unable to read the messages’ contents.
Imagine saying e2ee messaging apps are spyware while SMS sending plaintext. No one told you to use Facebook messenger or even WhatsApp, there are privacy friendly options like signal or matrix based apps (Element for example).
I use messaging apps exclusively with my Android using friends and family. Can't get my Apple using friends and family to use them. iMessage or the highway. Can't take away the one wee thing that feeds their ego. Fuck everybody else right!? Maddening.
