I see no possible solution without a third power establishing a wide ass DMZ between the two and make sure the zone fucks over both equally. Ideally they’ll stop hating each other and focus on the DMZ being ass. Might give us relative peace for like a decade or two.
Exactly, surely both will hate it. Classic parenting, if you can’t play nice no one can have it, puts toy on shelf. The really expensive part is building the infrastructure needed on the little space left to house all the people displaced. But hey work for a shit ton of people

I absolutely cannot keep track of the layers of betrayal and reconciliation. Anyone who tells you that an issue in the Middle East is certain is, at best, benignly unaware. It is utterly unsalvageable on both sides.

Greed. Taking more than equilibrium. People focus on the apparatus but not the source. We don’t need to change the system we need to change human nature.
Oh shut up. If human nature is based on greed because you see people taking more than they need, then it’s equally if not more based on mutual aid, since you have doubtlessly also seen people sacrifice their own desires and needs for the love of others. Why is one human nature, but not the other?

You’ve missed the point. The structures of our society is emergent from human will. Greed is a blunt word for an aspect of collective human will. I didn’t imply it was the only one, ya dummy.
I apologize for calling you a dummy. It was just a response to you telling me to shut up. I wholly agree, society based on on cooperation and the nurturing of that cooperation would be great. We should identify and implement changes to our human nature to foster such a ideal. We need trust and transparency and the removal of our levels of separation for a start, I think. I dunno, what are your thoughts?
I apologise for saying to shut up. I just feel strongly that us humans cannot be defined by greed. I agree with transparency and the removal of artificial divisions, such as race, nationality and class. And i also believe the only way we can achieve this is with a worldwide revolution. I believe such a thing is totally possible, but exceedingly unlikely.
The structures of society are created by human will, but the structures in place and the interactions they require also shape our values as cultures. Capitalism is a system in which by owning capital, wealth and the means of production, a capitalist derives profit from the workers who are the producers using the tools and facilities owned by the capitalist. To be successful in this, or to raise yourself above the working class, you must own capital and use it to derive profit to increase your capital further, or else other capitalists will take your place in the market.
Capitalism and market based economies have only been a part of the global structure for a small minority of the total time that humans have created societies. There are thousands of years we have very little information of, making it difficult to derive what sort of social structures were in place in different societies.
In the absence of pressures like poverty and economic competition, people help each other. When someone trips in front of you, the vast majority of people will be concerned and help them up. I truly believe altruism is a core aspect of ‘human nature’ as much or more than greed.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed the new atheist problem that Reddit has. It became such a bubble, that I thought that the entire world abandoned any pretense of anything mystical or Supernatural

I was eventually banned because I kept reporting people for bigotry, and they just didn’t want to do their job. So they banned the complainer instead of actually addressing the problem.

Yep. I was learning about the actions we need(ed) to take like 25+ years ago in elementary school. But we didn’t take any of those actions and instead added 2.5 billion to the population.
The problem is millions die, government’s are no longer able to govern and popularist war lords gain power in the chaos which results in huge conflicts that cause far more ecological damage without any measures or efforts to remedy them - we still get clomate change but probably sooner and worse.
Also let me ask the people here with children who among you would let your child freeze to death and who would chop down a tree to burn? The ecological damage done by a civilization collapse would be intense, we’re too close to the edge to risk that - maybe if it’d fallen at the start of the Industrial revolution but how long would it have been until that technology comes back and we’re right where we are?
We need to change society and evolve new technology, the later is actually doing really well with many giant leaps for climate friendly technologies and infrastructure but society is proving to be very resistant, people aren’t going to create a new greener world if they get angry at the very idea of being told to reduce, reuse, recycle.
Why would government fall over? They have police and military to keep/restore order
Anyway out of the violent methods I prefer a slower method where selective vandalism pushes away investment and insurance, so the fleets of diesel ships can be slowly replaced; so city energy can slowly adapt
