unrelated but does Ableton work with Linux yet? I did a quick search and someone says it works “flawlessly” but the comments indicate this is not true.

Hapbt ,

@Kultronx @JoMiran heh i would say it absolutely does not but Bitwig has a native linux version :)

nocteb , to linux in What are some must have Linux compatible VSTs?

A lot of cool ones already. I would like to throw Dexed in: asb2m10.github.io/dexed/

mvirts , to linux in What are some must have Linux compatible VSTs?

Surge XT, it’s LV2 but still awesome

Also I’m a zynaddsubfx / yoshimi die hard. Not for everyone but it can do almost everything if you can live with 8bit automation parameters

SolarPunker ,

SurgeXT supports VST; LV2 is actually unsupported for recent releases: surge-synthesizer.github.io/changelog/

Ephera ,

Uhoh, I’m using the LV2. Do you guys really run the VST through WINE? I was glad, I didn’t have to look into that…

mvirts ,

You can run vsts natively on Linux these days… Not that I actually do 😹but surge may make me give it a shot, I didn’t know LV2 is unsupported

Ephera ,

Ah, I didn’t know more modern versions of the VST standard specified a Linux interface. I thought, they were still just basically EXEs with some metadata attached.

SolarPunker , (edited )

VST is native and actually better for the CPU in the SurgeXT case. I also use it in LV2, and now I’ve all my projects that needs a conversion from that, maybe I could compile the 1.2 version from source; I don’t know but it’s annoying ¢_¢ [edit] Oh yeah, I’ve found it here so I can save my presets! archive.archlinux.org/packages/s/

sorrowl ,

There’s also a CLAP version available, if you use a daw that supports CLAP (like REAPER (which you should totally use btw (it’s like the emacs of daws if emacs actually ran faster than everything else)))

I was hearing that most of the hate on Kevin Costner’s accent in Prince of Thieves was dog whistle racism against Morgan Freeman because an actual Olde English would’ve been unintelligible. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mel would want to satirize a toxic fandom.

are they owned by nintnedo? also makes sense cause in-house nintendo is always great

Nintendo owns a stake in the franchise, but doesn’t do the development

If you think Nintendo has no creative control over mainline Pokémon games, I have a bridge to sell you.

Can you elaborate on what you mean to say here?

learningduck , to steam in Palworld is now the second ever game to hit 2 million concurrent players on Steam

I’m not a fan of survival games. Is Palworld that fun? I may give it a try. It’s on Game pass anyway.

OswaldBuzzbald ,

What does that have to do with seeing if the gameplay looks fun? I mean, I suppose they could recommend some YouTube “let’s play” videos instead, but either way, watching someone play the game in a contiguous timeline is probably the best way to see if it looks fun.

EvokerKing ,

People still play pubg??

OswaldBuzzbald ,

Not really, but that record number was set at the height of its release. I was told the number is really high because it took off in China, but it has me wondering why other games haven’t done the same. Does Steam no longer include or receive player counts from China? Are other games just not as big of hits there? I am specifically curious if Palworld has a large number of players in China.

EvokerKing ,

Typically if they support China they have a separate version of the game to comply with regulations. For example, look up Chinese csgo.

ObsidianZed , to steam in Palworld is now the second ever game to hit 2 million concurrent players on Steam

Are there any metrics that also include GamePass players? Considering it’s included, I have to imagine that’s a sizeable chunk.

Aldebaran , to memes in The "Left"

The fact that some people genuinely think there’s any kind of leftist representation in the US or that its system would ever even allow that to happen is funny

Trump and the republicans are right winged. Biden and democrats are the left.

Now what will the rest of the world do with this info?

Gradually_Adjusting ,
@Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world avatar

Literally most of history since the black plague has been about this, so like, yeah exactly. What you gonna do?

original_reader ,

I’m just saying that the answer is centred on American politics. The definition of right is Republicans and left the Democrats doesn’t apply anywhere else.

uzay ,

Just be aware that that answer is very over-simplifying things. “Left” and “right” are supposed to signify political ideas, not certain parties or politicians. You could say that Biden is to the “left” of Trump, but most people who would call themselves “left-wing” would consider Biden a “centrist” (between left and right) at best, maybe even skewing right-wing.

Typical left-wing ideals would be working towards freedom and equality for everyone by solidarity and cooperation, whereas right-wing ideas usually focus around preserving your own privileges by suppressing whomever you consider “outsiders” or “inferiors”.

frightful_hobgoblin ,

both halves of the USA’s two-headed uniparty are right-wing
