Mmm first releases! Working from home, its nearly close of play. I know … I’ll update my work laptop.

OK I now have LXDE for a fall back WM so I can read stuff rather more easily than using links in a TTY and switched out SDDM for LightDM - I needed sddm-git to get LXDE to start up. SDDM now simply crashes and dumps core - no idea why. Oh and I have switched to Wayland because X11 no longer works for me. I might put off updating the wife’s laptop for a while, at least until I’ve done my work desktop 8)

I must say its all rather pretty and smooth. Scrolling now has drag and acceleration, which is nice. I’m sure I’ll get KRDC to talk to the sodding wallet so my 100s of RDP connections will work again. For now I’ll call xfreerdp from the konsole. Perhaps I’ll get around to configuring KeePassXC and get around to using that instead. I share several rather large .kdbx with the rest of the firm.

Fantastic piece of software! It’s important to make backups if you use Audible as they can and will remove your paid books at will/randomly. Always keep a local copy - and consider checking your local library, they might have your next audiobook for free!

I remember playing this awhile ago it’s actually pretty solid from what I remember.

AFC1886VCC ,

I’m an Enlisted veteran, the game is definitely in a healthier spot now that they’ve merged the campaigns into factions and made a lot of changes. The downside is that it has lost some degree of historical accuracy, but that may not matter to everyone.

It’s a very fun game but imperfect.

Jesus didn’t exist yet though.

That’s his dad. You can tell they’re related.

afraid_of_zombies ,

Don’t ask me to justify it but the modern view among evangelicals is that he is the one doing all the anthropomorphic stuff in Genesis. Also according to the Gospel of John he would have as a celestial being.

I almost feel bad for apologetics types sometimes. Having to square the circle.

horsey ,

The entire thing is pretty convoluted. I think even theologians don’t quite understand it, which is why they had to make up the doctrine of the Trinity to explain why this allegedly monotheistic religion had more than one diety entity.

afraid_of_zombies ,

Judaism had a solution to this. God just really likes making the Angels feel included in the process also likes to pretend to be weaker since it makes him more approachable. So every time God is talking to someone else up there it is just an Angel and every time he seems to be just Superman having an off day he is just pulling his punches.

Apparently God attended a seminar on middle management located in an Airport Hilton at some point and did some trust falls. Which makes you wonder what he wrote on his name badge. Someone get a Rabbi and ask.

As I was gonna pay for shit in the first place lol.

Lojcs , to linux_gaming in Enlisted: Reinforced on Steam will be released with a native Linux port!!!

This doesn’t excite me tbh. So far my experience with Linux ports have been dominated by encountering weird glitches that nobody else seems to have and trying to solve them before realizing steam defaulted to native Linux again.

afraid_of_zombies , to lemmyshitpost in can't remember this part in the bible

It’s sorta in there. The modern evangelical view of Genesis is that all the parts where god seems like a person is really Jesus. And the wording heavily implies that Adam was going around trying to to find animals to fuck.

It is all retrocons and select editing. The first few books make so much more sense when you just think that that there was a sorta Justice League of superheroes going around doing stuff. Over time the concept of the superhero El just kept growing and growing and Jesus kept growing and growing until they got merged into the Trinity with tri-omni powers.

Everyone knows white Adam and Eve spoke English with white God. And that paradise was a Jungle which is definitely a great place to exist naked with all those insects.

name_NULL111653 ,

But the insects came after sin. Yes, all animals were there because evolution is wrong, but insects aren’t animals because they come about via spontaneous generation /s

The logic of the 17th century. Although modern creationists have updated it to “all orders / families are a Kind (whatever the hell that is), but insects are their own Kind so there was just this one really nice bug and parasites magically started evolving after the fall.”

Tangent5280 ,

If you sin or hide away from god he makes a parasite whose lifecycle involves crawling up your peehole and laying eggs in your anal wall.

I installed it on my endeavour laptop last night and apart from reconfiguring my dock-like panel and weather widget, it’s all been plain sailing so far. Now I just need Tumbleweed to release it so I can update my main desktop!

LiveLM ,

dock-like panel

Had to set one up for myself because Latte Dock seems to be fully dead on 6 🥲

MyNameIsRichard ,
@MyNameIsRichard@lemmy.ml avatar

Yeah, it won’t have been ported to Qt 6 and if IIRC widgets and plasmoids work differently now.

Fryboyter ,
Telodzrum ,

Hmm . . . this explains why my SDDM login screen was throwing weird errors and none of the old splash screens are available in the native store.

Brewchin ,

My Endeavour laptop got it today. Couple of tweaks and it was running perfectly.

Funny you mention desktop: I’ve been waiting for Plasma 6 before rebuilding my Ubuntu desktop with Endeavour. Didn’t want to jump the gun, find out that it impacts gaming performance, and then have to rebuild back again. :) Guess I have a desktop to rebuild now…

Codilingus ,

I reinstalled EndeavourOS on my main desktop yesterday, fresh install, just for Plasma 6. So far, big worth it even though I have a lot to set up still.

Oh dang, you won this one, Arch (Opensuse Tumbleweed user here :3)

baduhai ,

NixOS has had it for a few days already 😎

Who’s the real rolling distro now?

notTheCat ,

I think Arch really makes sure stuff are compatible before rolling, my 32bit Void laptop has had Python 3.12 for months, and I get all kind of weird warnings when installing Python packages, while Arch is still on 3.11 (maybe testing is on 3.12 idk)

baduhai ,

There’s that, and there’s also the fact that there’s only so many maintainer volunteer manhours. It happens to every distro, it just so hapenned that NixOS was faster this time. Though OpenSuse and NixOS suffer from this a bit less, as they’ve gone out of their way to automate large parts of their update and testing infrastructure(OpenSuse automates everything, I think?).

null ,

Part of that is that NixOS had a flake for Plasma 6 throughout the RC phases. So when it hit release, it was mostly just a case of merging it into nixpkgs proper.

Atemu ,
@Atemu@lemmy.ml avatar

Thank @K900 ;)

baduhai , (edited )

Indeed, I was using that flake for some time. K900 did the Lord’s work.

You know, I am fine with it. One of the reasons I am using Tumbleweed is for the additional testing they do, so if they aren’t cool with shipping it yet I can wait.
