EDIT: Donāt know why this is being downvoted to hell, especially as this comment isnāt tagged āedited onā, demonstrating I put this āeditā in the comment immediately upon posting so UPDOOT ME WAAAAH.
Along the same lines are the āAmericans forget that other countries existā comments.
Does American culture have a problem with ethnocentrism? Generally yes. Is reddit an American website where the vast majority of users, comments, posts, and topics are American? Also yes. When Iād see one of the āyouāre an arrogant asshole for assuming this post is about the USā comments, I just assumed itās someone being pedantic and contrarian for the sake of it. It just ruins what is sometimes a valid point.
āHey, baby, the prime minister is telling us to have kids. Thatās got me pretty horny. No, heās not making any significant changes to help take the edge off that massive expense and responsibility, but who cares? Iāll put his speech on loop and turn it up. Letās fuck.ā
Japan is trying to change things. I think itās just really far behind. While I was there, I remember government run/funded dating programs. The government names and shames companies that overwork their employees. But their definition of overwork is probably well beyond ours. The one-employer-for-life mentality is slowly eroding but itās slow.
