zikk_transport2 , to linux in Can you please ELI5 tmux?

In the company I work, we have to use jumpbox + “password” from proprietary code generator.

Imagine going through this, then you suddenly need 2nd terminal. Inconvenience doing it again in another terminal?

Well, there is a solution:

  1. tmux
  2. CTRL+B then ". And now you have 2 terminals.

Also tmux is great for “quick solution” kind of things - to leave something running in the background. Talking about background - you can have many terminals open, from only 1 SSH session. :)

I don’t know how widely it is being distributed, but I went to see a 50th anniversary remastered version of Rudolph Nureyev’s Don Quixote (1973) over the weekend. I know pretty much nothing about ballet, but it was very impressive.

I also saw You Hurt My Feelings (2023) which was a thoughtful one about support and truth in relationships that prompted some discussion afterwards, as this kind of film should.

TV: Shane Meadows’ The Gallows Pole: This Valley Will Rise - teetering on the edge of farce at times, but definitely entertaining; The Righteous Gemstones - season 3 continues the saga of the awful OTT family and still does the trick; Ruby Speaking - really wasn’t sure about this, but surprisingly entertaining.

Im not using cloudflare, but I had to add docker container IP to trusted proxies in homeassistant config to allow connection from different domain. This might even not be related to your question, but might be helpful idk

Wireguard client is so simple to setup, just scan QR code and you can toggle it on/off with a button. Or you can copy paste few lines of config if you cant scan. Just check wireguard app for whatever OS you need (iOS, Android, Windows, Linux), it cant be more simple IMO

polymachine OP ,

the main problem i have isn’t internal to my network, unfortunately, but that any call to my domain gets intercepted by cloudflare and sent to auth, which is good for security but kills API access to my services…

Yeah, but wireguard has two problems for me: I do not have install privileges on company devices, and even if I did, if they use a VPN to access company networks, doesn’t that interfere with any VPN access to my home server?

rambos ,

I believe you can have only 1 wg connection active at a time, but switching between them should be easy as toggling a button. Sorry mate, I cant help more than that, hopefully more experienced users will jump in with better answers

First off, OP seems to be a woman. Also why do you give a shit if a man if wearing a kilt? Do you also scoul from across the coffee shop if someone is wearing shorts that stop above the knee? Nobody’s forcing you to do anything

qazwsxedcrfv000 , (edited ) to selfhosted in Question on Proxmox Pools (I'm a bit of a noob)
@qazwsxedcrfv000@lemmy.unknownsys.com avatar

I think the question is if you want to add the external USB hard drives to Proxmox so that not just the mentioned Ubuntu VM but other VMs and LXCs can benefit from them or if you want them to be added exclusively to the Ubuntu VM and Ubuntu VM only.

If it is the latter, you can leverage USB device passthrough and passthrough the two drives to the VM in whole. Then you can do whatever you want with them inside the VM. You can use ZFS or BTRFS or mdadm to create a stripe aka RAID 0 config.

@purahna@lemmygrad.ml avatar

I always love Flask for this, it’s a super simple python web server that is basically fully batteries included, just write a couple lines of python and throw your html in either /static or /templates, depending on whether it’s dynamic or not, and you’re live. It’s not gonna move mountains but it’s not meant to.

Asudox OP ,
@Asudox@lemmy.world avatar

How is the performance compared to nginx or apache?

railsdev ,

I imagine you’d probably put Flask behind nginx. At least in Ruby (another interpreted language) I don’t want all requests hitting the framework.

Asudox OP ,
@Asudox@lemmy.world avatar

I currently read that Flask is not good for production. They say I can use something like waitress. If possible I’d use something like that over nginx for simplicity’s sake.

purahna ,
@purahna@lemmygrad.ml avatar

Much lower and you shouldn’t care. As long as you’re serving less than one request per second, you will not need to care about performance. If you do, sanic and vibora are drop-in flask replacements and they are both much more performant.
