Do you get paid for the work day? I used to donate plasma twice a week because that $240 a month was the only money I had. I stopped because now I don’t need that money and I work too much to have time for it.
If I got a paid day off work for every donation I would be there as often as they let me.
Depending on what you donate, you may have to wait 3 months between one donation and the next, we often donate whole blood; Plasma donations must be at least two weeks apart I think. I’m pretty sure there must be a limit to the numbers of days off you can get. It’s all managed through the national mutual assitance org, the employer must seek reimbursement through them as they would for sick days.
pretty much every app will start to use iOS 16 as the minimum OS capable of running it. it’s best if you upgrade now so you can run all of your apps and so you have more security
I used modrinth launcher since the whole platform is open source afaik. Big fan.
That said, I stopped playing minecraft since microsoft has perverted everything I liked about it to make it a childrens game with microtransactions. They recently announced ramping up the breakneck speed of updates to make it more like a live service game which may devastate the mod community.
I since made a voxelibre server which works surprisingly well. I also maintain a minecraft inspired texture pack since I dislike visual change.
I was going to ask “how does that compare to Minetest?” But after a bit of investigation, apparently it is a renamed Mine Clone 2, which is a game for Minetest.
Yes. I just researched and found out minecraft uses its own engine based on lwjgl. It’s a little bit like whatsapp and matrix. While whatsapp uses(d?) xmpp, matrix is the protocol, not the client.
One thing that I found out was that as “most-Minecraft-like” games for Minetest, there’s apparently Voxelibre (renamed Mine Clone 2) and Mineclonia (fork of Mine Clone 2). Just out of curiosity, if you looked at both, what made Voxelibre particularly appealing relative to Mineclonia?
I’ve played Minetest, even contributed some code IIRC, but that was some time back, haven’t ever played the derived games. Kind of thinking about maybe giving it a go now that there’s apparently more there.
Yeah, they renamed it a couple months ago. The core team got tired of copying MineCraft 1-to-1, as there’s just no creativity involved in that and you’re hardly allowed to improve on the original.
I think, at best, it can only help with certain types of potential suicides. Some suicides occur due to apparently hopeless life situations. For instance, I haven’t been able to get a real job in 23 years despite, in that time, finishing a B.A., an M.A., and a Ph.D. Nothing that everybody says to do works for me and I’m frankly tired of hearing it. I’m stuck DoorDashing (Uber was way too abusive) and that I’m stuck doing that is intensely depressing.
Psychology can’t help with this. The only thing that can help is a real job. And that’s what a lot of the babble about suicide prevention seems to miss.
One of the doormen in my building is kind of in a similar situation. He got his doctorate this year, beautiful flute player. Can’t find a job in his field.
All elections have consequences. I know that Americans like to be dramatic (especially on Lemmy, Reddit is far more tame in this regard), but voting for someone that wants to promote policies that you support is how those policies are promoted.
I say this time and time again on here, but America isn’t special. Many countries have two main parties, but while third parties don’t always see power, they maintain Influence everywhere. Hell, you can argue that the Tea Party, Brexit, Irish Unification, MAGA, Immigration reform in Germany, all of this is due to influence outside of the main parties.
Solution to the problem: ban right-wingers, impose socialism and if rich people get too noisy send secret services to deal with them Pinochet-style. Bam, capitalism defeated in a few years.
Seize who’s assets exactly? The second you draw a line and say anyone on the other side has fewer rights than you, you’re falling right in line with those same right-wing policies.
There is no way to define a law against “right-wingers” that doesn’t infringe on basic rights like freedom of opinion and freedom from discrimination. You can’t punish people for being part of a group. You need to point to something specific that each individual has done that is illegal before prosecuting. Anything less and society will break down into fascism.
Termux. A command line Linux system running on top of unrooted Android.
It lets you interface with your phone’s functions (GPS, calls, etc.), and install packages to extend functionality.
Turned my phone into a mobile network troubeshooting device, and I can ssh into my server on the go.
With AnLinux you can install a full standard linux system in it, including a GUI, and connect to it with a VNC viewer. (AnLinux is just a helper script linking to some dude’s repo, so if you are at all security-minded, you can also bootstrap and install any Linux distro manually).
So you could have a Debian with Gnome desktop running on your unrooted phone.
I just started Astro Bot a couple days ago. I’m completely hooked, it’s so much fun. Looking forward to the new Zelda as well.
And started a co-op run of Baldur’s Gate 3 with a friend who hasn’t finished it yet. I can’t get enough of that game. Got into the modding scene recently too.
