Except you have to contend with those fucking model names Sony uses. The Xperia 5 IV. The 1 V. The Pro I 5G.

Comparing phones on specifications when both operating systems are different is kinda stupid. I guarantee most people don’t care about refresh rates or data transfer speeds.

Also, not a meme.

CallMeButtLove , to selfhosted in DNS Management Advice

I have a similar setup except I use pfSense as my router and pihole for DNS, but I’m sure you can get the same results with your setup. I’m running HAProxy for my reverse proxy and configs for each of my docker containers so any traffic on 443 or 80 gets sent to the container IP on whatever unique port it uses. I then have DNS entries for each URL I want to access the container by, with all of those entries just pointing to HAProxy. Works like a charm.

I have HAProxy running on the pihole itself but there’s no reason you couldn’t just run that in it’s own container. pfSense also let’s you install an HAProxy package to handle it on the router itself. I don’t know if opensense supports packages like that though.

You can even get fancy and do SSL offloading to access everything over HTTPS.

At least be accurate.

The “Pro” model iPhone has a lot of the features you are calling out the non-pro one for not having. Also no non-proprietary lossless audio streaming would be more accurate.

curbstickle , to gaming in TIL I can restore games on Steam, which I removed years ago

The bigger issue to me are games that were removed from steam and I can no longer get.

Which is why I don’t bother buying on steam anymore. If I’m buying, its DRM-free only.

Chuymatt ,

I’ve yet to have that happen, I think. What games have you experienced that with?

Midnitte ,

Nearly 900 games have been delisted.

There’s also Fable 3, which you can’t buy anymore because it used Games for Windows, which resulted in no more CD keys.

blindsight ,

Right, but Steam still let’s people who own delisted games download and play them forever. (Well, assuming they’re not live service games with no servers, but that’s not a Valve problem.)

TachyonTele ,

I have multiple delisted games in my library that I can still download and play anytime I want. They just don’t have a store page anymore.

Having big family is a fetish

Hmm

RagingRobot ,

Breeding your wife is a fetish

Kusimulkku , (edited )

I guess there are all kinds of fetishes, but just having a big family doesn’t seem like one. If it was a woman who wanted lots of kids I guess their fetish was getting bred lol. Those kinky Jehova’s Witnesses and Mormons, now I know what they are all about

UnderpantsWeevil ,
@UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world avatar

I would argue the age of these characters is peculiar. Also, the age difference between the kids. This seems less like someone envisioning a family with a lot of kids and more someone who is delusional about the prospect of ever getting older or having children that grow up.

“I want a wife who is never older than 30 and children who never hit puberty” is delusional. That’s before you get into the Mormon problem of “surplus males” and how that affects the more orthodox corners of their community. When having multiple wives becomes a status symbol, and having lots of children becomes a status symbol, but the guy/girl ratio isn’t 1:3, you have to start asking what happens to all the horny, defiant, increasingly disenfranchised teenage boys who have to watch their dad marry one of the girls from their high school class.

This isn’t strictly a fetish so much as it is a fantasy. While there’s nothing wrong with having vague, mushy, romantic views, you do need to interrogate them a bit at some point. Especially if the fantasy is going to be the foundation for your political viewpoint.

A politics defined by a 20-something wife covered in Forever Four-Year-Olds isn’t rational. A politics of eternal youth is… not going to end well.

Kusimulkku ,

It’s a fantasy for sure, I just thought calling it a fetish was a bit weird

UnderpantsWeevil ,
@UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world avatar

All Politics is Sexual Pathology, or so I’ve heard it said.

But, in this case, the thing that really throws me is the idea of people being Forever Young. The parents never get older. The kids stop maturing at the toddler stage. I can half see that mom being pregnant into eternity. Just never giving birth, because the imagery of pregnancy is what the patriarchal artist is truly fixated on.

just_another_person , (edited ) to selfhosted in DNS Management Advice

Focus on DNS for the host machine and it’s port mappings, not the individual containers.

If you’re instead asking “How can I easily map a DNS name to service and port?”, then you want a reverse proxy on your host machine, like nginx (simplest) or Traefik (more complex, but geared towards service discovery and containers).

In the latter scenario you setup a named virtual host for each service that maps back to the service port exposed for your containers. Example: a request for jellyfin.localdomain.com points to the host machine, nginx answers the request and maps the host name in the request, then proxies your session to the container.

It’s copy and paste for the most part once you get the first one going unless you’re dealing with streaming.

If you’re running a flexible platform on your router like OpenWRT, you could also do some port forwarding as a means to achieve the same thing.

JackbyDev , to games in Is overwatch 2 really that bad?

They started charging for new heroes and made free cosmetics more difficult to obtain while adding other forms of monetization. Overwatch 1 was (somewhat) unique in that if you bought the game you had all the characters. I think this is these are the biggest reasons people are upset. There are other things like the lack of a promised co-op mode and a different format for matches but those are more subjective. It’s hard to view Overwatch 2 as anything other than reworking the games monetization with little to no benefit for players. Calling it Overwatch 2 didn’t help. It’s Overwatch. It’s not a new game. It’s just a new version. The old version can’t be played.
