Wrong. The correct act is to put the cart out of the way of others, but not in the corral.

You then help provide a job to a person that capitalism wants to take away. They want your free labor. And then they provide less and less corals to save those extra pennies, knowing that you’ll walk. Fuck them.

Have you ever worked in a grocery store? Because that’s literally not how it works

41°C sounds terrifying to me

g1ya777 ,

Where i live it can go up to 53°C in the summer. In summer when there is a streak of very hot days and there’s like a 41°C day, you will hear people out saying " oh, today its quite cool, that’s nice!"

computerscientistII , to science_memes in Burning Up

Fahrenheit is such a nice system. 0 is really, really cold and 100 is really really hot. So 50 must just be perfect, right?

Way more intuitive then Celsius.

boonhet ,

Celsius isn’t all that different.

-30 is really really cold, 30 is really really hot.

0 is just about perfect.

Okay Mr. Freeze

Randomguy ,

More like 0 is really cold and 40 is really hot, so 20 must be perfect, which it is.

boonhet , (edited )

Eh I can barely breathe at 30. 40 is certain death. Except in a sauna, where 100 is no problem and we throw water on the rocks to make it feel hotter.

I know, it’s weird. I’ve got pictures of me lying around in a pile of snow in a t-shirt, trying to cool down. At -15.

Void. Boots in 2 seconds to Xfce if not for udev. Maybe i’ll try mdev.

samwwwblack , to linux_gaming in Way to stay on Nvidia 550 w/ Fedora 40?
@samwwwblack@lemm.ee avatar

Sorry for not replying sooner, life stuff.

I’ve had problems with the 555 driver like KDE’s lock screen would freeze for up to 30 seconds whilst trying to unlock and resuming from suspend resulted in a black screen.

So I went back to the 550 driver - I’ve uploaded the RPMs/SRPMs that I use; misc.lapwing.org/rpms/nvidia-550/

Please note this is just a dump of RPMs/SRPMs and not a repo, so it’s just a stop gap until 560 arrives and (hopefully) fixes my issues.

You will probably have to fight dnf a bit to get it to actually replace the 555 RPMs, but I’ve not had a recurrence and the akmod dance works just as jankily well as before.

No, sorry, I don’t know American Sign Language. I mean I wouldn’t be against learning it, I’m just kinda lazy.

You see, it’s funnier because the letters are being silly.

Is the unit ‘one league’ used in LOTR (esp in elvish) the same as in our universe. Just asking as nobody here is questioning the units.

NigelFrobisher ,

I remember asking my dad how far a league was when I first read the book, and then repeatedly questioning whether that could be right in the context of the writing.

MonkderVierte , (edited ) to greentext in Posting the shopping cart theory because people had questions in a separate thread

We have now this in Migros and Coop:

Place it in the stack at the checkout where you unload it and go. Kinda breaks that test. And a headache less for the clerks.

denast ,

Pretty sure the original post is written in the context of a typical large US supermarket with outdoors parking lot.

There people often buy more groceries then they can carry so they go with the cart to their cars to unload them. After doing that you’re supposed to push the cart back to one of cart sheds located in the parking lot, yet many people just leave it where they unloaded it and drive away.

Chimera Linux. You’d think that a distro using its own bsd-like userspace and dinit instead of systemd is janky and unusable, but it’s been one of the most painless experiences I’ve had.

Genuinely recommend trying it if you don’t have an Nvidia GPU.
