It was self-fulfilling for me. I started self-hosting and messing with networking before I went into IT. I thought I’d be in a very different field until ~10 years ago.

wildncrazyguy138 , to cooking in [QUESTION] How do I adjust the texture of yogurt?

There’s a brand called Fage that is kinda expensive but super thick. It’s not runny like other yogurts seem to be. It’s my go to when I have a bit of extra funds. Add some granola, strawberries, maybe some honey or walnuts, cinnamon, vanilla, whatever to your hearts content.

One other thing I should emphasize. A combination of yogurt and honey is fucking delicious.

I think you’d find that Fage doesn’t give that same slimy yuck factor that other yogurts do. It’s denser than Chobani or Stoneybrook (maybe equivalent to Skyr?) In any case, I think it more so has the texture of whipped topping.

I don’t get it all the time, because it is expensive, but when I do, it’s a treat.

Araithya OP ,

Fage has definitely been the most tolerable brand of yogurt for me! And bonus points to it because it’s also all of my families favorite. I love honey and nuts, but I think I end up adding too little honey. How much do you add? Just like a spoonful or a small drizzle?

wildncrazyguy138 ,

A drizzle, about as much I’d apply as chocolate sauce to vanilla ice cream.

Azzu , to nostupidquestions in I think I am socially ostrasized, what should I do?

If you’re autistic: social settings have a plethora of unwritten rules that you have to follow to not seem weird to non-autistic people. Without knowing exactly why anyone would be badmouthing you, it’s likely that you already violated dozens of them without knowing it.

It’s possible to learn it though, I did it through reading about it and carefully observing soap operas scene-by-scene, watching every movement they make, every way they express themselves, guessing the purpose and seeing the effects.

The quickest way to learn is by having someone with the necessary skills observe you and giving you pointers, but this is hard to do apparently since you have no one you can trust?

I could help, but to help you, one really needs much more and much more specific information about your situation.

I recognized I went a little crazy last week with some acquaintances. I’m going to ask them next week if it was ok. It’s hard to ask, but you just gotta do it and own it when it’s on you to improve.

berryjam , to cooking in [QUESTION] How do I adjust the texture of yogurt?

You can mix it with rice, have you tried that?

Araithya OP ,

I have not! I eat rice for lunch a couple times a week, I’ll have to give that a try.

berryjam ,

Hope it works out!

This is a more involved recipe: food52.com/…/77349-padma-lakshmi-s-yogurt-rice ; I usually just mix the rice and yogurt, and add salt and peanuts.

Max_P , to linux in Is AMDvbflash safe? what is going with it?
@Max_P@lemmy.max-p.me avatar

You can boot it in a VM and do it from a VM. In fact even if the VBIOS is completely broken, you can still usually override the VBIOS in libvirt/qemu and boot it anyway and then you can flash it.

some_guy , to nostupidquestions in I think I am socially ostrasized, what should I do?

I don’t know about the rest, but I will say that having friends is absolutely worthwhile and worth pursuing.

Whether to stay at school or get a job, it sorta depends on your circumstances. What are you majoring? Are you interested in it? Are you taking on massive debt in the process? Will your education likely lead to career opportunities? You don’t necessarily answer here, but these are definitely questions worth asking yourself.

Depending on circumstances, staying at university may be highly advantageous. It may be a place where you develop life-long friendships or meet people and network in ways that are later career-advantageous. It could also suck you into unnecessary debt without much perceived value when you’re done. It’s difficult to say, but worth considering before acting on a whim. Good luck!

I work in emergency management but I’ve always been interested in tech as a hobby. That led me to start self-hosting Plex on my desktop about 6-7 years ago. Now I’ve got a dedicated machine running unraid with about 20 to 30 different docker services.

I really enjoy being able to figure out how to setup a service and then being able to be fully in control of how it works. Beyond just enjoying tinkering with the system to learn, I enjoy being able to troubleshoot and fix problems without relying on large companies.

SendMePhotos ,

If plex counts… Then also me. I work in retail. I can’t escape. I have a degree in tech, but not enough work experience.

Water kefir is another good option - one you get the grains rehydrated it makes a new batch every 24 hours or so, and you can referment it with fruit juice to make a fizzy probiotic drink. It’s much easier to get started with than kombucha

Araithya OP ,

I have never heard of water kefir, just the bottled raspberry kefir I see next to milk. Where can I find these grains?
