“Spotify forces you either to pay, listen to ads or to find unofficial, potentially dangerous versions to use it.”
I don’t think the company forces you to do anything. It is their business model, how they can provide copyrighted music to you and have a share of the pie too.
I’d say the very idea that Spotify is forcing you to pay with time and attention or money so you can have music conveniently streamed to your devices is a testament to the company’s success. It created this business model and fulfilled an apparently basic need to the point you think that charging for it is unfair.
But “forcing” is too much. You can always buy discs, digital downloads and so.
Spotify took an existing thing and made it convenient and worse at the same time. How long before we are just listening to AI music? Since their cost is the artists…it’s only a matter of time.
I’d suggest a no political videos rule. Also you can expect specialized communities like IdiotsInCars to appear and linking to those communities would be helpful.
In physics, a particle is a fundamental or elementary unit of matter or energy. It refers to a localized object that exhibits certain properties, such as mass, charge, and spin.
The standard model of quantum physics is like a special chart that helps scientists understand and organize all particles. It tells us that there are two main categories of particles: matter particles and force particles.
Matter particles are the ones that make up things like you, me, and everything we see. They are further divided into two groups: quarks and leptons.
Quarks are like the tiniest building blocks of matter, and they come in different types called flavors, such as up, down, charm, strange, top, and bottom. They can be combined together to form “composite particles” like protons or neutrons.
Leptons include particles like neutrinos which have no electrical charge, or electrons which are found in atoms, and they have a negative charge.
The other category is force particles, also called bosons.
These particles are responsible for carrying forces between matter particles. They help things stick together or repel each other. The force particles include the photon, which carries electromagnetic energy (they form light), the W and Z bosons, which help with the weak nuclear force and gluons that mediate the strong nuclear force by interacting with quarks.
I have an instance running nextcloud for my calendars for a month or so. I received an email 2 days ago basically staying this :
Reclaiming idle resources allows OCI to efficiently provide services to Always Free customers. Your account has been identified as having one or more compute instances that have been idle for the past 7 days. These idle instances will be stopped 7 days from now.
So I’m also wondering how to keep it active.
Edit: I just installed Serge. I’ll just try to remember to play with it from time to time and see what happens.
I ran a test with my own channel on Peertube, lemmy, and my soapbox instance. I subscribed to my peertube channel with the lemmy and soapbox accounts, and then posted a message using lemmy. The message posted successfully, but did not appear on peertube or soapbox, but when I viewed the community using another lemmy account on the same lemmy instance I did see the posts. Next, I tried mentioning the peertube channel using soapbox. I knew that post would survive on that instance, but it also didn’t show up on peertube or lemmy.
My conclusion is that if you make a post on a community using lemmy, it will survive on the instance you’re on, but it will not be sent to the peertube instance and will not be federated to any other followers.
Are you happy with it? What are its best and worst qualities? Love it. Works really well and great camera. No issues I’ve had so far after a year. Would’ve been nice to have a headphone jack, but not a big issue.
Which phones have you had previously? Which were the best and worst of the lot? Moto Max, pixel, pixel 3a, lots of others
How often do you upgrade to a new phone? Every few years recently
What other Android ecosystem devices do you have? Watches, headphones/earbuds, etc. Shield TV, Fitbit, pixel buds pro, fire tablet
Do you also use any Apple products, or are you Android all the way? (And/or Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, etc.) My kid has an iPad for speaking but that’s it. Everything else is android and the PC is Windows 11pro
