Interesting. Is this often what is used in other countries perhaps? I’m an American and I’ve always been asked in terms of inches. I’d guess centimeter would be used most other places.
Quirky is definitely the best fit, if you are worried about an ambiguous context using a descriptor.
Still, don’t discard weird as a word altogether like a slur so quickly. “Keep Portland Weird”, “Weird Al Yankovic”, still describes stuff that are a little unusual but cool to be around, and the fact that this word comes up in the context of US politics shouldn’t remove one of the word’s many meanings.
A guy at a bar who always shows up with round sunglasses and a tie dye shirt, ordering a glass of milk is the cool kind of weird. A guy who spends all their time talking about themselves are the annoying antisocial kind of weird. Someone who sits next to a washroom staring at the ass of every person going in and out of it is the creep kind of weird.
I think it’s just your wording really. It is off-putting. Why not say, “I’d love it if there were a site that did this… Anyone aware of any efforts toward this? I’d love to contribute in a small way (since you seem to have the resources to help at least).”
She’s semi-Buddhist, from a country where that’s prevalent. She would probably visit a temple or something if we weren’t always together, but it’s not like I stop her from going.
Yes, you can configure systemd-resolved to use the DNS servers in the order provided without dynamically switching based on speed. Here’s how you can do it:
Replace IP_of_pihole and IP_of_mikrotik with your actual DNS IP addresses. This tells systemd-resolved to only use the DNS servers in the order you’ve specified.
Prevent automatic DNS changes by network manager:
If you’re using NetworkManager, create a drop-in configuration to prevent it from overriding DNS settings:
One of the reasons I prefer GOG is that I don’t want to use a client. I prefer to download offline installers and then run my games through Lutris or Heroic Games Launcher.
Ok, I’m not crazy. I’ve been thinking I haven’t seen updates on my desktop in a while too, but my laptop has been updating fine. I just updated mirrors using eos-welcome as others suggested and now I’ve got a couple gigs of updates ready 👍
