Turn-based all the way. RTS is a test of how fast you can click. APM is king. Turn-based allows you to think and plan and make decisions. Brain is king.

To be clear there’s nothing wrong with liking RTS, it’s just not for me.

nossaquesapao ,

I feel the same. Some rts games feel to me more like a test of motor skills than anything else.

beeng , to coffee in What less common coffee drinks do you make?

Coffee tonic water at my local cafe is pretty great on a hot day. Give it a go.

multicolorKnight OP ,

Ooh. Extra bitter with your bitter.

beeng ,

More sugar in tonic than I’m used to in my coffee I must say.

HelixDab2 , to asklemmy in Sorry for the potentially controversial question: is it normal for less attractive people to settle down with partners they don't find physically attractive?

I think what happens is that other attributes that they’re attracted to make the person more attractive to them, so that they aren’t weighting solely physical appearance. As in, they might not choose to hook with that person, but would still see that person as a solid choice for a life partner.

That said, it’s horribly cruel to get into a relationship with someone that you have zero sexual desire towards, unless that person has no sexual desire at all. You may not be physically attracted to them, but you should still desire them sexually.

Yes

RightHandOfIkaros , to games in Do you prefer RTS or Turn based tactics

I like both, but definitely prefer RTS, especially if I am playing multiplayer or if there are a large number of units. I find Turn based games to become repetitive very quickly. Real time action is just more engaging more often, and I don’t find myself knowing I am going to lose but being held “hostage” being forced to sit through the remaining amount of turns to recover from my blunder.

Some of my favorite RTS games include the GOAT Age of Empires 2, Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour, and the RTS 4X game Stellaris (with mods).

Some of my favorite turn based games include Galactic Civilizations 3, XCOM 2, and rhe Japan only PC98 game Tuned Hearts.

I enjoy playing both (solo). But when I see the pros play RTS, I realize turn-based is where I belong. Love the old classic X-Com series.

I always loved isopods. I was the weird kid in the neighborhood who played with them rather than other kids. They’re fucming adorable.

i think that liking a person can make you physically attracted to them. i didnt look at either of my partners the first time and drop jaw on the floor… but once i became friends and developed a crush they started to look cute! my current partner is very attractive to me now :)

communism , to asklemmy in Would you wear a body cam at work?
@communism@lemmy.ml avatar

In the jobs I work at, no, I wouldn’t. Body cams would only be used to snitch on people. It makes sense for surveillance to be used over people in positions of power like cops, doctors, prison guards, etc, who are known for abusing their power. Not against ordinary people or members of the public though. If retail workers wear bodycams, it’s to snitch on shoplifters. If teachers wear bodycams it’d compromise kids who approach them to tell them something in confidence. Etc.
