Honestly many ideas behind it are well meant but the whole bourgeoisie and proletariat thing isn’t as black and white. Also the economic adaptation of companies and supply chains to what is needed doesn’t really work properly in marxism. I like many social aspects but in a state where everyone owns everything there is no personal incentive to innovate. The economy just doesn’t run as smooth and adjusted to the individual. There are many good ideas, good intentions but in the end it works better as a theory. Especially since personal needs often go unaddressed and the personal wish for wealth doesn’t just disappear

I urge you to actually learn about Marxism, because your claims are demonstrably false. Things like supply chains work just fine, and in many cases far better than they do under capitalism and markets.

“In IT” could mean anything from first line support worker to software project manager to network engineer. Can you be more specific…?

This morning I was still awake, my veines exploding because of all the “anti-sleep medication”, having a quick cool-down from the party still going on inside, when I hear someone randomly say: “yeahh rm -rf!”. One thing let to another…

Linux skills make you friends as well as get you jobs.

Grappling7155 , to linux in What is something you want to use, yet are NOT using?

Bazzite. I had it working well for a while but a bad update broke it to the point where I can’t login with Gnome anymore and I’ve stopped trying to make it work. I should be able to revert to the last good snapshot with grub, but I’m a little tired of tinkering, workarounds, and incomplete docs. I like the premise, but I think I need a fresh start with a new distro.

Diablo II for sure

Psychonauts in 2019. The fact that I can play a decade and a half year old game, and not have to rebuy it is incredible.

I’m still fighting the good fight of keeping Kobolds as they originally were in Germanic fairy tales: weird little guys spiritually bound to a house or ship.

Mostly all the indies I could play on PC that just straight up aren’t on consoles.

Some of them have been ported over but an example: I had almost 500 hours on Deep Rock Galactic when they first announced it for Playstation…

d0ntpan1c , to technology in Posit: In the future, generative A.I. will be thought of as the unconscious part of a general A.I.'s mind.

The appearance of similarities between Generative AI and the unconscious mind do not mean there is any actual equivilance to be had. We gotta stop using the same terminology to describe generative AI as we do humans because they are not the same thing in the slightest. This only leads to further unintentional bias, and an increased likelihood of seeing connections with the unconscious mind that don’t actually exist.

Hackworth OP ,

Typically speaking, the appearance of similarities should be explored for functional similarities. Even in the world of prompting, a user gets demonstrably better results (in some contexts) by acting as-if they’re talking to a person. We can explore the similarities between interpersonal interaction and AI-interaction for overlap in effective modalities without claiming they’re equivalent.

Back in the day a pc was easier to get than an Xbox. I just had to figure out which $60 pci video card was good for games then boom, better gaming and in glorious 1024x768. Then I figured out pc games can have mods and that was the end of consoles for me.

kylian0087 , to selfhosted in Selfhost and play Spotify playlists

Yes kind of but it is not strictly allowed and can be considered piracy. Their are some tools for this available on github that can save songs as mp3. Then you can play them in any audio player you like. If you want to know the name of one of those tools just send me a DM.

Baguette , to pcgaming in Which game made you realize PC was superior platform to Console (or/and viceversa)?

There’s no such thing as the superior platform. The pc vs console war is long dead

If I enjoy a game, it doesn’t matter whether its on pc, my phone, or some console. I’ve had a blast with the ds and the wii (still my favorite consoles to date), Ive also had a lot of fun on pc.
