The federation with Mastodon is mostly one-way: We can’t see or comment on Mastodon posts, but Mastodon users can see and comment on Lemmy posts.

Mastodon’s like Twitter… its posts wouldn’t fit in the Lemmy UI well. Though I hear kbin works well with both Mastodon-style and Lemmy-style posts.

Moohamin12 OP ,

Right. I have kbin. Will try seeing how that works.

Thanks!

Well, Reddit is practically dead, too. Just give it another six months or so of bad decision making, and whenever that IPO is going to drop.

You can do this in iPhones too. Under accessibility and Backtap.

mfat OP ,

Wow! I bet most iPhone users don’t know this exists. This is more like a usability feature than an accessibility one. It even supports triple tap!

FredericChopin_ ,

They don’t. I used to work the Genius Bar and sadly the majority of users don’t know how to sign on to iCloud haha.

Apple has a habit of hiding away features. There are some outstanding accessibility features on iPhone.

I personally use the Backtap to run a shortcut that turns off WiFi, not greys it out but off off. I get irrationally mad when it always try’s to connnect to networks and kills my internet.

Max_P , to selfhosted in What do you recommend to selfhost code repositories?
@Max_P@lemmy.max-p.me avatar

I mainly just use bare SSH and/or point my web server to my repos as I don’t really need a whole UI for stuff I’m pretty much the only one that will ever use it.

I feel like it’s a git feature that’s often overlook by those that have only used to GitHub/GitLab/Gitea before. Git was originally designed to just be a folder on a server you have SSH access (read-write) or HTTP(S) access (read-only).

I’ve used Gogs and Gitea in the past but found it overkill for my needs.

zaphod ,
@zaphod@lemmy.ca avatar

Exactly what I do. Unless you need fancier collaboration features–issue tracker, UI for handling PRs, etc–a bare repo on the other side of ssh plus something like cgit if you want to make the code available via a browser is perfectly sufficient.

On other devices, you can use Tap, Tap but it may not work as well

Requires root or a compatible Pixel device…

Yeah just tried it and it worked!

Pixel phones also have this feature, called quick tap. Quite handy to turn on and off flashlight for example.

Quite a few phones have similar features. Samsung users can use GoodLock to use the back tap too.

But when I tried in the past, I didn’t like it, too many false triggers.
